University Assistant Prae-Doc (all genders)
30 hours/week | limited to 4 years

At the Institute of Lightweight Design and Structural Biomechanics, in the Research Group for Numerical Analysis and Design Methods TU Wien is offering a position as university assistant (prae-doc)limited to expected 4 years for 30 hours/week. Expected start: December 2025.
Tasks
- Collaboration on research and teaching tasks as well as examinations
- Cooperation and guidance of students
- Research and project activity in the areas of Scientific Machine Learning and design optimization of components and processes
- Writing a dissertation and publications
- Participation in scientific events
- Assistance/Collaboration in organizational and administrative tasks
- Completion of a master or diploma curriculum in one of these fields: mechanical engineering, computational science and engineering, computer science, or comparable
- Proficiency in academic research methods
- Experience in the following scientific fields: numerical simulation, (scientific) machine learning, design optimization (e.g., deep operator learning such as IGANets, isogeometric analysis, shape or topology optimization)
- Programming skills in Python and/or C++
- Very good English communication and writing skills; German language skills are an asset
- Strong interest in research in the field, as well as in the supervision and mentoring of students
- Excellent communication skills, strong team competence, and a high capacity for innovation

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 2,786.10/month gross, 14 times/year for 30 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
