Your Role And Responsibilities

We are seeking a PMO Lead to join the ABB IEC LV Motors Division in Vaasa or Aleksandrow Lodzki. In this strategic role, you will lead the Project Management Office function across the European R&D hubs, ensuring excellence in project execution, governance, and portfolio alignment. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining project management frameworks, tools, and processes that support innovation, product development, and operational efficiency.

This position offers a unique opportunity to shape project leadership practices in a global R&D environment, with strong potential for personal growth in both strategic leadership and project governance. You will report to the R&D Hub Manager Europe and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across ABB’s global network.

Key Responsibilities

• PMO Leadership: Lead and coach the regional PMO team, ensuring capacity, competence, and motivation for efficient and high-quality execution of R&D projects and developments.
• Project Governance: Define and implement project management standards, methodologies, and KPIs to ensure consistent execution and alignment with business goals.
• Lead also project development projects
• Portfolio Management: Oversee the R&D project portfolio and development tasks, ensuring prioritization, resource allocation, and risk management across multiple initiatives.
• Process Development: Continuously improve project management processes and tools to support lifecycle management and innovation.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with R&D, operations, product management, and finance teams to align project execution with strategic objectives.
• Training & Competence Building: Develop project management capabilities across the organization through coaching, training, and mentoring.
• Reporting & Insights: Provide transparent reporting on project status, risks, and performance to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  
  
  

Qualifications For The Role

• B. Sc. or M.Sc. in Engineering, Business, or related field.
• Several years of experience in project management, preferably in R&D or product development environments.
• Proven leadership and coaching skills in a matrixed, global organization.
• Strong understanding of project governance, portfolio management, and process improvement.
• Experience with project management tools
• Continuous improvement mindset (Lean) combined with Agile way of working
• Fluent English and either Finnish or Polish (depending on the location) is a must.
