The Prince George’s County Office of Information Technology is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a Cybersecurity Analyst, (IT Engineer 3G) grade G24 position, in the Division from JAF division.
About The Position
This is full performance professional and technical information/cybersecurity analysis work. In a team environment, the incumbent will assist with conducting broad or specific information/cybersecurity functions, monitoring and maintenance of IT/cybersecurity platforms and tools. Conducts analysis, investigations and forensics as directed. Develops reports and participates in implementation of cyber tools and integration with county technology and communications environments. Provides direction to County agencies' IT staff, business analysts and management to ensure appropriate security controls are in place and in force. Participates in Cybersecurity Awareness training and campaigns. Stays abreast in knowledge of cyber threat landscape and protective measures. Work may involve sensitive matters requiring a great degree of integrity, discretion, and judgment. Work is performed under the general supervision of the IT Security Manager and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), and is evaluated for technical adequacy, accuracy, and efficiency as evidenced by compliant, systems functioning, and timely and effective response to issues.
About The Agency
The Office of Information Technology (OIT) provides support for all of the agencies, departments, and branches of County government. The OIT Service Desk provides information technology support and maintenance services to Prince George’s County personnel. The Office of Information Technology is wholly dedicated to aligning technology efforts to support the strategic goals of the County. OIT will provide leadership, expertise, and resources in the ideation, development, and deployment of innovative technologies and streamlined processes to improve government efficiency, business interaction, and citizen access to government information and services.
Examples of Work
- Contributes to the effective monitoring of county networks and systems, to identify any violations and security breaches for resolution.
- Performs analysis and technical tasks involving assignment and coordination of IT/cyber security measures, cyber event detection and rapid response across various county technology environments.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, mathematics, business or public administration, or a closely related field.
- At least two (2) years professional experience in an information technology engineering field.
- Must be willing to respond to service calls after normal business hours, when required.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- CompTIA Security+ Certification or equivalent (CySA+, GSEC or SSCP)
- 1-3 years' experience with security frameworks (NIST Cybersecurity Framework, NIST SP 800-53, CIS Controls)
- Familiarity with Zero Trust security concepts and architectures
- 1-3 years' experience with SIEM tools (Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel)
- Proficiency with vulnerability scanning and penetration testing tools
- Knowledge of endpoint detection and response (EDR) solutions
- Prior experience with public sector or compliance-heavy industries (HIPAA, PCI-DSS, CJIS, FISMA, etc.)

General Plan Information
The Prince George’s County benefits plan year is from January 1 to December 31.
A spouse (to include a same sex spouse) can be added to the health benefit plans. A marriage certificate and social security number is required to add a spouse.
Children under the age of 26 are eligible for coverage under the health benefit plans. This includes stepchildren and children of the same-sex spouse. A birth certificate(s) and social security number(s) is required to add a child(ren). If you are only adding the stepchildren or child(ren) of a same-sex spouse, you will need to submit a marriage certificate. You will also need to submit the birth certificate of the child(ren) and your spouse must be listed as a parent.
The premiums for health benefits are deducted on a pre-tax basis with the exception of Long-Term Disability, Extra Life Insurance and Voluntary Benefits (Short-Term Disability, Whole Life Insurance, Critical Illness, Accident Insurance, Cancer Indemnity, Hospital Indemnity Protection, Accident Indemnity Plan, Supplemental Dental and Group Legal Services).
New employees must enroll in the County’s health benefit plans within thirty (30) days of the hire date.
The effective date of the health benefits coverage is the beginning of the month following a waiting period of forty-five (45) days from the date of hire.
After enrolling in the County’s benefit plans, employees may only make changes to the plans either during the open enrollment period, which occurs annually (usually each October), and/or during the year, due to a family status change (i.e., marriage, births, divorce and adoption).
