SkillsDock is a multi-tenant marketplace platform connecting homeowners with trade professionals across Australia. We're building a modular monolith with FastAPI backend, multiple Next.js 15 frontends, and a comprehensive feature set including AI-powered assistants.
The Role
We're looking for a shipping-focused generalist developer who thrives on wearing multiple hats and moving fast. You'll work directly alongside the founder as a true partner in building and shipping features across the entire stack.
What You'll Do
- Ship relentlessly: Build features from database schema to deployment, end-to-end
- Frontend & Backend: Toggle between FastAPI/Python and Next.js/TypeScript daily
- Database & Infrastructure: Design schemas, write migrations, manage CI/CD pipelines
- AI Integration: Work with AI agents, LLM integrations, and intelligent automation
- DevOps: Deploy, monitor, troubleshoot across staging and production environments
- Problem-solve creatively: Debug across the full stack - no "that's not my area"
You're a Great Fit If You:
- ✅ Can context-switch rapidly between frontend, backend, database, and infrastructure
- ✅ Prefer shipping working features over perfect architectures
- ✅ Have experience (or strong interest) in AI/LLM integration and agents
- ✅ Are comfortable reading unfamiliar code and figuring things out
- ✅ Don't need hand-holding - you see a problem and fix it
- ✅ Enjoy fast-paced startup environments where you own features end-to-end
- ✅ Have strong Python and TypeScript/JavaScript skills
- ✅ Understand databases (schema design, migrations, queries)
- ✅ Know your way around CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows
Nice to Have:
- Experience with FastAPI, Next.js, and Prisma
- Knowledge of payment systems (Stripe) and webhooks
- Familiarity with Australian market/regulations
- Background in marketplace or multi-tenant platforms
- Interest in dev tooling and AI-assisted development
