About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on and commercially driven Data Scientist to join a fast-growing Insurance business unit within a leading global travel platform. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact on a newly launched insurance product that allows customers to protect their bookings with flexible cancellation options.

You’ll work at the intersection of data science, experimentation, and commercial optimisation, collaborating with cross-functional teams including Product, Risk, and Finance. The focus will be on improving the risk-performance balance, strengthening fraud detection, and uncovering actionable insights that directly influence business strategy.

What You’ll Do

• Build and deliver data-driven insights to support product and commercial decisions.
• Analyse user and transaction data to identify patterns, detect fraud, and optimise product performance.
• Design, monitor, and interpret A/B and multivariate experiments.
• Partner with Product Managers, Analysts, and Engineers to improve data quality, reporting, and analytical models.
• Translate technical analyses into clear, commercially relevant recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.
• Contribute to the design and refinement of pricing, risk, and retention strategies for a growing insurance portfolio.
• Communicate complex findings in a structured, accessible, and visually clear way to leadership teams.

What We’re Looking For

• 3–5+ years of experience as a Data Scientist, ideally in a commercial or experimentation-heavy environment.
• Strong practical skills in Python and SQL.
• Proven track record of working on experimentation, causal inference, or uplift modelling projects.
• Comfortable analysing large datasets and delivering insight under tight deadlines.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills – able to “speak the language” of both data and business.
• Strong business acumen and curiosity, with the ability to challenge assumptions and spot commercial opportunities.
• Experience in insurance, e-commerce, risk, or fintech is a plus, but not essential.
