We're seeking an experienced Application Developer (Java) to join a high-profile digital transformation initiative supporting critical service delivery and regulatory reform. This role will contribute to a major change program aimed at improving business processes, technology enablement, and stakeholder outcomes.
You will play a key role in designing, developing, maintaining, and supporting a range of in-house applications built on Oracle and Enterprise Java platforms. Working closely with project and ICT teams, you'll deliver fit-for-purpose solutions that drive productivity and compliance within a dynamic and fast-evolving regulatory environment.
This position offers the opportunity to work on meaningful public sector initiatives that improve efficiency and service delivery across Queensland.
- Design, develop, and implement high-quality software solutions using Java SE/EE and associated technologies. 
- Perform systems analysis, impact assessment, and application enhancement in alignment with business goals. 
- Ensure adherence to coding standards, quality assurance practices, and change/release management procedures. 
- Troubleshoot and resolve application issues, providing technical guidance and support as required. 
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to transition technical knowledge and deliver business value. 
- Minimum 5 years' experience in Enterprise Java development (Java 17 or higher). 
- Proven experience with JSF, Spring 5.x, Hibernate/JPA, and Maven. 
- Strong skills in HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, and secure web application development. 
- Hands-on experience with Oracle SQL/PLSQL and TomEE/Tomcat application servers. 
- Proficiency with Git (Bitbucket), Jira, Confluence, and CI/CD best practices. 
- Experience writing unit/integration tests using tools such as JUnit, Mockito, or PowerMock. 
- Familiarity with Selenium or similar web testing frameworks. 
- Exposure to Unix or Windows deployment environments. 
- Tertiary qualification in Information Technology or related discipline. 
- Experience delivering software solutions in a government or regulated environment. 
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills. 
- Contribute to a high-impact project driving digital transformation.
