We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Executive Officer to support the Chief Financial Officer in achieving the strategic and operational goals of the Financial Services Division. This role provides comprehensive research, strategic advisory, and executive support, including the preparation of Board and Committee reports, briefing notes, and high-level administrative services. You will deliver advice across financial, procurement, human resources, and operational functions, working closely with the CFO, Directors, Managers, and broader divisional teams to drive performance and excellence.

PLEASE NOTE: The QBCC Brisbane office will be relocating from West End to the Brisbane CBD at the end of 2025.

About The Role

  • Under broad direction either individually, as a member of a team or as a manager of a team, provide tactical and operational leadership or project management expertise to ensure the effective development and delivery of services and projects within required timelines.
  • Supervise an executive support officer within the Division, to support the Directors, Managers and staff.
  • Manage preparation of briefings to inform the Minister, Commissioner and other senior executives and internal and external stakeholders on forums and issues relevant to the Financial Services Division.
  • Prepare, edit and manage correspondence and briefing papers for the Chief Financial Officer and the Division in response to ministerial, divisional and external requests in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Develop and enhance effective and efficient interfaces and relationships between the Chief Financial Officer and teams within the Division, various groups and divisions within the Queensland Building and Construction Commission and other key stakeholders.
  • Analyse current and historical information to inform decisions and identify any critical gaps and maintain awareness of recent developments that may impact on the business area and acquire best practice approaches.
  • Continually review duties and operations to ensure optimal efficiency in the role.


About You

  • Proven high level executive coordination, project management, strategic planning, administrative and problem-solving skills in successfully dealing with complex issues in a public or private sector organisation, working to tight timelines.
  • Proven ability to facilitate and manage complex coordination processes, and related performance management processes and frameworks or similar.
  • Demonstrated capacity to effectively lead, manage, develop and foster an effective working relationship with internal and external customers in a complex and dynamic environment.
  • Superior interpersonal, written and oral communication skills including liaison, consultation and negotiation skills demonstrated through dealings with internal and external stakeholders in the preparation of reports, briefing papers and correspondence.
