About us:

At OAT, we are in an exciting phase of growth and are looking for a UX/UI Designer passionate about creating products that are intuitive and easy to use. Our goal is to raise the UX maturity of our team and deliver experiences that our end users truly value.

We are seeking a mid-level designer capable of designing products that are intuitive, accessible, and user-centered, ideally with previous experience in the education/assessment industry or in regulated or high-accessibility domains (finance, gov, health, etc.), to join our team.

You will work closely with the product, engineering, and UX teams to craft engaging, user-friendly experiences for our assessment tools and platforms, delivering high quality, technically feasible solutions that are aligned with the overall product vision.

If you are someone who sees usability as the core of great design and understands that accessibility is a natural extension of it, not just a compliance checklist, then you are a person of interest.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Design and refine the usability of both existing and new products, focusing on user flows, navigation, interactions and information architecture that transforms complexity and ambiguity into intuitive solutions.
  • Craft high fidelity user interfaces (web/mobile), refine layouts and be attentive to details such as typography, colors, iconography and system behaviors.
  • Collaborate on the evolution and maintenance of our Design System that ensures a consistent user experience across all products.
  • Deliver clear specifications (user flows, wireframes, high fidelity UI design and prototypes, etc.) and collaborate with Engineering/QA to guarantee accurate implementation.
  • Write, proofread, and edit concise, inclusive user facing text.
  • Define and improve accessibility specifications, proposing inclusive solutions that have a positive impact on users that rely on assistive technologies. Validate against WCAG 2.2 AA to ensure compliance and partner with engineers to make sure designs adhere to inclusive patterns, semantic HTML and ARIA principles, and proper web structure.
  • Support the UX team in planning and executing user research, by conducting surveys, user interviews and usability testing. Synthesize findings into journey maps, personas, scenarios, etc. and provide actionable recommendations based on insights gathered.
  • Contribute to the long-term growth of UX maturity and culture at OAT, sharing best practices, mentoring others, and helping teams understand the value of our field.

Qualifications and skills

  • Experience: 3+ years in the UX/UI field working with cross-functional teams in agile setups. Portfolio demonstrating problem solving skills and ability to transform complex scenarios into intuitive user-friendly solutions in digital products.
  • Required skillset:
  • Strong knowledge of usability principles, design thinking and user-centered processes.
  • Sharp visual design and prototyping skills, good aesthetic sense and detail oriented. Proficiency in Figma is a plus.
  • Familiarity with HTML/CSS/JS and general front-end structure and how implementation impacts user experience.
  • Proven experience in digital accessibility. Comfortable applying WCAG 2.2 AA and ARIA patterns from concept to implementation. Accessibility certification is a plus.
  • Empathetic, curious, proactive and collaborative; clear communicator and active listener, storytelling skills and stakeholder management; organized, analytical, responsible.
  • Fluency in English is required, any other language is a plus.
