Our platform replaces traditional helicopter surveys with a cost-effective drone solution, enabling farmers to monitor multiple farms and public-safety entities execute their operations remotely and efficiently in drone as first responder (DFR) scenarios. We are at the forefront of integrating advanced technologies such as AI, video signal processing, real-time multi-spectral image viewing, long range wireless communications and aerodynamic flight control to transform the agricultural and public-safety industries.
Role
We are seeking a senior, highly autonomous engineer with deep expertise in TypeScript, React, and modern frontend architectures. The ideal candidate will bring a strong engineering mindset to every aspect of development, from system design through long-term maintenance and scalability planning.
You will own the development of mission-critical web interfaces and cloud-integrated features, with particular emphasis on building maintainable, scalable frontend architectures that can evolve with our growing platform. This role requires a high degree of autonomy, with the ability to establish architectural best practices and collaborate closely with product and UI/UX design team.
Current initiatives include building a cross-platform (desktop and mobile app) mission control app for managing live drone operations, implementing advanced mapping and geospatial features for real-time telemetry, optimizing our real-time data pipelines for fleets of simultaneous flights, and enhancing offline capabilities for field deployments in low-connectivity environments.
Key Responsibilities
Frontend Architecture & Development
- Lead the design and implementation of scalable, maintainable frontend architectures using React, Next.js, and TypeScript, with a focus on long-term system evolution and technical debt prevention
- Architect robust state management solutions using Redux, Redux Toolkit, and complementary libraries, ensuring predictable data flow and optimal performance in complex applications
- Develop intuitive UIs for mission planning, telemetry visualization, and live drone video streams with integrated mapping capabilities
- Apply rigorous engineering principles to optimize frontend performance for low-latency, high-data-rate environments while maintaining code maintainability and scalability
Mapping & Geospatial Development
- Implement advanced mapping features using Mapbox or similar FWs, creating seamless integration between drone operations and geographical visualization
- Develop and optimize 3D mapping capabilities for enhanced mission planning and real-time flight visualization - experience in this area is a significant competitive advantage
- Design responsive mapping interfaces that perform efficiently across desktop and mobile platforms, with custom styling, data visualization layers, and real-time telemetry overlays
Full Stack Integration
- Collaborate with backend engineers to design and integrate REST, WebSocket, and MQTT APIs with robust error handling and state management patterns
- Implement sophisticated data-fetching and caching strategies using Redux middleware or modern alternatives
- Ensure seamless UX/UI integration with backend services and real-time data flows
Engineering Excellence
- Drive code quality through peer reviews, testing, and architectural best practices
- Proactively identify bottlenecks and propose scalable solutions
- Champion maintainable, modular codebases and modern tooling
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with embedded systems, AI, and cloud engineers to ensure system coherence.
- Participate in product planning, providing insight into trade-offs and timelines.
Requirements
- 6+ years professional frontend development experience, with deep expertise in React/TypeScript in world-class projects.
- Extensive experience with Next.js framework and modern React patterns (hooks, context, suspense, server-side rendering)
- Advanced proficiency with Redux ecosystem: Redux Toolkit, middleware patterns, and complementary state management libraries
- Production experience with Mapbox GL JS in complex, real-time applications with custom visualizations
- Proven ability to design and deliver maintainable, scalable frontend architectures with minimal guidance, demonstrating strong engineering judgment
- Deep understanding of REST, WebSockets, and MQTT and their integration with modern frontend architectures
- Experience with modern build tools, comprehensive testing frameworks, and CI/CD workflows
- Proficiency with Docker and containerized development/deployment pipelines
- Excellent communication skills with ability to articulate complex technical concepts
Preferred
- Extensive experience with 3D mapping technologies (Mapbox 3D/terrain, deck.gl, CesiumJS, three.js) - this is a significant advantage
- Experience with video streaming technologies (RTSP, HLS, WebRTC) and real-time media integration with mapping interfaces
- Background in real-time control systems, IoT, or robotics applications
- Contributions to open-source or public technical work.
