This role plays a critical part in maintaining and enhancing the security posture of IT systems and networks. The Security Analyst will conduct audits, assess vulnerabilities, respond to security incidents, and implement risk management practices across a variety of platforms. You will collaborate with IT teams, management, and stakeholders to ensure compliance with security standards and regulations. This position offers the chance to work in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment where your expertise directly supports organizational resilience and operational security.

Accountabilities:

  • Utilize GRC tools to manage risk and maintain accurate security documentation
  • Conduct routine audits, including user access reviews and system vulnerability assessments
  • Respond to security incidents, providing detailed reports and actionable recommendations
  • Review and track vulnerability scan findings (Nessus, Fortify, Database scans)
  • Recommend security enhancements to senior IT staff and management
  • Stay up-to-date on security intelligence and anticipate potential threats
  • Ensure compliance with standards including FISMA, ISO 27001, HIPAA, HITECH, and NIST frameworks


Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience managing security programs across IT systems and networks
  • Knowledge of network architecture, topology, and protocols, with experience in both operating systems and cloud platforms
  • Familiarity with NIST 800-37 Risk Management Framework, NIST SP 800-53, and Certification & Accreditation processes
  • Ability to identify, communicate, and mitigate security vulnerabilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to convey complex technical information to non-technical staff
  • Experience coordinating with security teams to maintain program consistency and compliance
  • Preferred: Veterans Affairs experience, CISSP or similar certification, ServiceNow Security Incident Response (SIR) experience, and GRC tools such as eMASS
  • Must be able to successfully complete a Tier 4 (High) public trust background check
