The Network Engineer will be responsible for minimizing risk to our clients’ systems and data. They will assist with ensuring the stability, integrity, performance, and sustainability of in-house enterprise systems/network infrastructure and all sister-company systems. This will be achieved by applying advanced knowledge, skill, experience, and best practices in planning, designing, and developing infrastructure technologies across the enterprise, as well as by assisting with the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of those technologies.
Requirements
- Technical College or Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience working with Cisco Networking (hardware, software, protocols, etc.), specifically on large-scale, enterprise LAN network deployments and operations.
- Experience with the following:
- Working in an enterprise environment supporting over 300 switches, routers, and wireless access points;
- Configuring, troubleshooting, and supporting Cisco 3700/4500/6500/ASR series switches, Cisco routers, and Cisco WCS wireless controllers and access points;
- Working with Spanning Tree Protocol (STP);
- Using Hot Standby Router Protocol (HSRP), packet/protocol analyzers, and network performance tools to find and resolve application and network performance issues;
- Providing maintenance and engineering support for Layer-2, supporting a global voice solution;
- Applying standard operating procedures (SOP) and control processes for the Network including monitoring to ensure compliance and consistency with the SOPs;
- Ensuring alignment of systems/network infrastructure goals to organization needs (technical analysis and alignment);
- Assisting with capacity planning and performance-tuning enterprise-level systems/network infrastructures;
- Monitoring and troubleshooting network technologies to meet established service-level agreements and organizational goals;
- Maintaining and updating SOP documentation (files/manuals);
- Reporting on key performance indicators to Upper Management;
- Providing application support experience with enterprise systems;
- Enterprise networking configuration and maintenance in a 24x7x365 SLA production environment;
- Applying data and security governance inside an enterprise;
- Conducting in-depth research into issues and technologies;
- Documenting current/future states during upgrades or system implementations.
- Working knowledge and hands-on experience with routing protocols: BGP, EIRGP, MPLS, OSPF, IGRP 1 & 2.
- Skill executing at a high-level; hands-on technical knowledge of Cisco Enterprise Networking technologies including core switching; Nexus Fabric; ASA firewalls; Edge & Core Routing; managed wireless, vLANs, and DMZs; intrusion detection/prevention and evasion technologies; network load balancing, etc. and/or expert knowledge of Core Server technologies including the complete virtualization layer platform (blade server systems, SAN storage, fiber channel networks, virtualization software, DR replication, high availability configurations, etc.).
- Demonstrated ability to support complex, enterprise-level LAN/WAN networks.
- Hands-on experience with 802.11a/b/g/n wireless technology and installation.
- Working knowledge of how to install and maintain Cisco's Wi-Fi/802.11 systems.
- Ability to demonstrate familiarity with network management systems, reporting, and capacity planning.
- Working knowledge of fiber and copper media.
- Working knowledge and hands-on experience with Cisco Call Center Manager or Enterprise.
- Willingness and ability to travel infrequently including overnight travel. Preferred
- CCNA/CCNP certification.
