Network Security Engineer
Location: On-site (5 days per week)
Job Type: Permanent
Salary: Circa £55,000
Security Clearance: Active SC required, must be eligible for DV
We’re offering an exciting opportunity for a passionate Network Security Engineer to join a specialist Information Management function as part of a 24x7 Internal Security Response (ISR) team. As a Network Security Engineer, you’ll play a key role in safeguarding critical network infrastructure, proactively defending against evolving cyber threats, and supporting incident response alongside a skilled SOC team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an engineer with a strong security mindset to work on advanced network protection, optimise security tools, and contribute to major initiatives that strengthen organisational resilience. Key Skills & Expertise:
• Strong understanding of networking principles (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, switching, VLANs, load balancing)
• Expertise configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting next-gen firewalls (Cisco, Checkpoint, Palo Alto)
• Hands-on experience with IPS/IDS, SSL decryption, deep packet inspection, and secure proxy solutions (Bluecoat, F5)
• In-depth knowledge of security protocols: IPSec, SSL/TLS, VPNs, multi-factor authentication
• Familiarity with network architectures and security zones (DMZ, internal networks)
• Experience with network monitoring technologies (PRTG, Nagios)
• Desirable: Exposure to Darktrace, Splunk, LogRhythm, packet analysis, and SOC alert triage
