You’ll play a key role in keeping Europe’s research and education connected. From ensuring uptime for critical identity services to building automation and security into everything we do, your work will make a real impact on millions of users worldwide.


Some of the key responsibilities for this role:


  • Keep Europe online: Guarantee 99.9%+ uptime for identity services used by millions.
  • Design resilience: Build monitoring and observability that spots issues before they happen.
  • Automate at scale: Replace manual tasks with smart automation and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Shape modern infrastructure: Manage containerized workloads and orchestration platforms.
  • Champion security: Apply best practices and compliance to protect sensitive data.
  • Push performance boundaries: Optimise systems for speed, scalability, and reliability.


About You

You’re an experienced engineer who thrives on building reliable, automated systems at scale.


You have deep Linux expertise, strong AWS knowledge, and a passion for Infrastructure as Code. You’re comfortable designing resilient architectures, automating everything with Terraform and Ansible, and writing clean, efficient code in Python or Go. Security and performance are second nature to you, and you bring clear communication and collaboration skills to every challenge.


Key strengths:

  • Advanced Linux administration and automation with Terraform/Ansible
  • Strong AWS experience for high-availability systems
  • Programming in Python and Go for automation and optimiSation
  • Solid understanding of networking, security, and container orchestration
  • Bonus points for: Kubernetes expertise, IAM protocols, and experience with service mesh or message queues.


Working Arrangements

Given the responsibilities of this role, we expect the individual to be in the office at least one day a week.
