The Opportunity

Pluvo is seeking a Product Designer who is excited to grow their craft and be the foundational design hire shaping the product experience as the company scales. This is a fantastic opportunity to work hand-in-hand with engineers and product leadership, build design systems from the ground up, and influence product strategy at a funded startup.

Responsibilities

Product Design & User Experience

  • Design end-to-end user experiences for new features and improvements to existing workflows
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs that balance user needs with technical feasibility
  • Conduct user research and usability testing to validate design decisions
  • Design solutions that improve product reliability and user confidence (loading states, error handling, performance feedback)

Design Systems & Collaboration

  • Help build and maintain a design system that enables consistent, scalable design across the product
  • Create component libraries and design patterns in collaboration with frontend engineers
  • Work closely with frontend engineers to ensure designs are implemented with precision and perform well
  • Balance design ideals with engineering realities - finding creative solutions within technical constraints

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Partner with Product to shape feature requirements and contribute to product strategy
  • Collaborate daily with engineering to ensure designs are technically feasible and performant
  • Participate in sprint planning and design reviews
  • Advocate for users while respecting technical and business constraints

Growth & Development

  • Learn and grow your design skills with guidance from leadership
  • Contribute to establishing design best practices and processes
  • Take on increasing responsibility as you develop your skills
  • Help shape our design culture as we grow the team

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of product design experience, preferably in B2B SaaS or fintech
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating product design work and your design process
  • Proficiency in Figma (our design tool of choice)
  • Understanding of design systems and component-based design
  • Basic understanding of frontend development and ability to collaborate effectively with engineers
  • Strong foundation in interaction design, visual design, and UX principles
  • Ability to design for technical constraints and work within feasibility boundaries
  • Experience conducting user research or usability testing
  • Good communication skills and ability to articulate design decisions
  • Self-starter mentality with ability to work independently
  • Experience working in agile development environments

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with financial tools or FP&A or ERP platforms
  • Understanding of data visualization and dashboard design
  • Familiarity with HTML/CSS
  • Experience with frontend development (React or Next.js)
  • Background working at a startup
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design practices
  • Experience with design QA and implementation details
