This role will be responsible of the safe and effective delivery of assigned medium/large project or projects within an overall portfolio of brownfield modifications for client onshore facilities and offshore platforms, including large production and processing complexes within an Engineering and Procurement services contracting model. To effectively undertake Project Management duties, in line with the "Wood way", to lead and direct the successful delivery of each project, from early solution development through Detailed Design Engineering, Procurement and the preparation of projects for the Construction, Completions and Commissioning phase (by others), followed by the successful completion of the project Close Out phase, post-handover to Operations. Demonstrate delivery excellence for assigned projects, in line with relevant Wood and contract specific Project Management processes and procedures, as well as in accordance with the Contract Execution Plan (and where applicable, Project Execution Plan). Provide certainty and confidence to the client and Wood project sponsor, that each project is being delivered safely with a strong focus on effort optimization, cost efficiency & control, risk management, schedule adherence and stakeholder management. Ensure delivery of assigned project and/or projects within the agreed commercial framework, taking measures to manage financial threats/opportunities to the client and Wood throughout. Ensure a full understanding of, and compliance with, the terms and conditions of the agreed EPs framework agreement reimbursable contract, in all aspects of delivering the work.
Responsibilities
Project Execution
- Responsible for project HSSEQ leadership, ensuring a program of initiatives and a suitable auditing schedule is established and followed to ensure that HSSE and quality management issues are proactively addressed throughout project delivery.
- Categorize assigned projects into the appropriate Tier in line with Wood's Right Size Solutions procedure, using the right people, tiering tools, etc. to assess and adopt the corresponding right sized (tiered/scaled) approach to ensure efficient and effective delivery, commensurate with the size and complexity of each project scope of work.
- Create Interface Management Plans and use interface registers as applicable depending on project size/tier in line with Wood and contract specific procedures.
- Responsible for the framing of project scopes of work, per phase, and facilitating the preparation of distinct CTRs, cost estimates, achievable delivery schedules, inclusive of suitable growth & contingency allowances depending on the level of scope definition and uncertainty per stage, then gaining client approval, reviewing contractual stipulations in client issued Purchase Orders and managing the successful execution of work under the terms of the contract for the agreed scope.
- Assist the Portfolio Delivery Manager with overall contract Profit & Loss, by delivering assigned projects within the agreed (and realistic) cost and schedule promises, ensuring Wood's commercial and financial framework is understood and complied with, to ensure contractual liability risks are managed carefully, project benefits are realized, and overhead costs are minimized throughout project delivery.
- Provide input into annual budget and forecast determinations, ensure the timely and correct allocation of costs to each project, ensure the on-time completion of weekly timecards, facilitate weekly client review and approval of hours booked per project in support of avoiding delays with accounts payable/billing and cash collection.
- Organize the project team, define individual responsibilities and motivate team members towards successful achievement of specified project goals, particularly through regular project meetings.
- Identify and communicate project team objectives in accordance with the contract terms, scope of work and corporate policy.
- Delegate work to project team members in a manner that encourages individual responsibility and provides opportunities for growth.
- Provide leadership and direction to ensure stakeholder interfaces are managed effectively.
- Coordinate the development of project delivery schedules and master deliverables register (MDR), including the clear identification of schedule critical path, delivery KPIs, project key milestones and realistic activity duration estimates per phase.
- Ensure that compliance with applicable technical specifications, client discipline engineering standards and the required quality standards of engineering documents, equipment packages and materials of construction is fully understood and complied with by the Engineering Team for the agreed scope of work being delivered per project.
- Identify and communicate potential scope changes to the client sponsor as early as possible, agree the adoption or exclusion in principle for each then, if to be pursued, follow up with a formal Change Request to confirm the extent of the change in scope, schedule, cost & risk impact, obtaining written client approval and an accompanying PO amendment, prior to execution of the amended scope.
- Pursue and develop opportunities for innovation, such as digitalization and the use of applicable new technology where economically and technically viable, utilize Wood's work share and global engineering centres (GEC) where appropriate, to bring efficiency and optimum value to Wood and the client.
- Actively seek out opportunities for cost and schedule savings wherever possible to optimize customer value on every project.
- Ensure project reporting of progress, productivity and delivery predictability is provided weekly per project and checked for accuracy/correctness before going live on internal and external (visible to client) project dashboards.
- Ensure the consistent set up and use of project document folders, the development and regular updating/issuance of project minutes of kick off/progress meetings, project action trackers with key decision log, project risk register in ProRisk with SMART risk mitigation actions assigned that are reviewed regularly for effectiveness and ensure the timely closure of actions and risks throughout the delivery of each project.
- Guide and direct a multidiscipline project team, which may include/involve external specialists and staff from multiple offices and sites.
- Facilitate the set-up (if not already in place) and adoption of effective information management systems / applications as applicable to suit various life phases of projects and manage information management within the project team, whilst always maintaining confidentiality of Wood and client data.
- Participate in project assurance activities, peer reviews, and lead lessons learnt reviews/adoption at appropriate (start and end of) project stages.
- Attend to and resolve conflicts, challenges and problems related to a large multi-cultural and multi-disciplined workforce.
- Participate in/lead Design Reviews, 3D Model Reviews, Value Engineering, Risk Management workshops, Constructability Reviews, HAZOPs/HAZIDs/LOPAs/SIL Assessments/PHSERs/IPRs etc., as applicable.
- Ensure Technical Evaluation of Bids, Issuance of Bid Technical Clarifications, Technical Evaluation Reports and Recommendations are undertaken by competent project team personnel in line with project schedules and budgets to meet Wood and client specifications.
- Lead by example in all aspects of project delivery in line with Wood policies, procedures, standards of ethical conduct/behaviour, avoiding conflicts of interest and in compliance with the applicable country's laws and policies.
- Coach and mentor others, empowering team members to make decisions within established parameters and competency levels.

- BSc or equivalent degree in an Engineering discipline from an accredited University, is required.
- Project Management Professional (PMP), Associate in Project Management (APM) or equivalent certification, is preferred.
- Minimum of fifteen (15) years' relevant experience in medium/large Brownfield oil & gas projects, including at least five (5) years in a similar position, is preferred, but not necessarily essential.
- Demonstrable ability to manage EPC, EPs and/or EPCM contracts for offshore and onshore Brownfield Oil & Gas projects for major Oil & Gas companies.
- Specific experience in the GCC region for renowned clients is preferred, but not necessarily essential.
- Positive personality, ability, and experience to drive, manage, direct and guide the team to achieve project objectives.
- Thorough understanding of project management techniques and practices.
- Experience of developing and implementing project measures of success/benefits/business priorities.
- High level of professional competence and management skills to motivate the team to achieve high quality performance during project execution.
- Demonstrable experience in stakeholder management, including implementation of Interface Management Plans and effective creation/management of interface register/actions.
- Thorough knowledge of project success and benefits management.
- Demonstrable ability to drive cash flow management as well as projection/forecast of cost at completion.
- Demonstrable experience of HSSEQ, commercial, schedule and technical risk management.
- Good knowledge of contracting models, conditions, types and their suitability in different situations.
- Demonstrable ability to deliver effective project initiation on multi-phase projects and produce project execution plans.
- Experienced in using common estimating techniques to derive estimates of project cost and schedule.
- Experience of implementing successful project performance improvement activities and techniques for recovering poor performance.
- Understands the information management requirements in each project phase (including handover to Operations, technical & commercial close out and final handover to client), internal (contractual, statutory) and asset (customer) documentation, as well as Intellectual Property/confidentiality.
- An awareness of international and company quality assurance standards.
- Knowledge of commercial and contract conditions applicable to the procurement of various types of goods and services.
