Freelance Network Security Engineer - Brussels

About the Role :

Our client, that is a leading organisation based in Brussels, is looking for a Network Security Engineer to strengthen their infrastructure and cybersecurity capabilities. You’ll be part of a skilled technical team responsible for securing and optimizing complex network environments across multiple sites.

Responsibilities :

• Design, implement, and maintain secure network infrastructures (LAN/WAN, VPN, firewalls)
• Manage and monitor network security tools (IDS/IPS, SIEM, vulnerability scanners)
• Configure and maintain firewalls (Fortinet, Palo Alto, Check Point, Cisco ASA, etc.)
• Conduct regular security assessments and propose improvements
• Collaborate with IT operations teams
• Document configurations, policies, and security procedures

Your Profile :

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in network and security engineering
• Strong hands-on experience with firewall management, routing/switching, and VPN technologies
• Familiar with cloud security (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and zero-trust concepts is a bonus
• Relevant certifications (CCNP Security, Fortinet NSE, Palo Alto PCNSE, or equivalent) are a plus
• Excellent problem-solving skills and proactive mindset
