Your job

As a Data Scientist Intern in the Global Finance Data Science team, you will focus on operations research, specifically working on a linear programming project to optimize our business goals. The complexity of the financial markets offers countless opportunities in data science, ready to grow and refine your problem-solving skills. Prior experience in finance is not required; we seek enthusiastic individuals ready to explore complex challenges. You'll collaborate with colleagues from various departments in an international environment, such as Securities Lending, Treasury and IT, across Europe, APAC, and the U.S. Your responsibilities will include:

• Collaborating with experts and colleagues to translate business needs into mathematical formulations (linear programming) and Python code.
• Assisting in the exploration, development, refinement, and deployment of linear programming models to optimize our business goals.
• Setting up data pipelines to ensure seamless integration and usability for business applications.
• Applying your recent academic knowledge to propose innovative ideas and potentially develop and implement new operations research modeling techniques.
• While your main focus will be on operations research, you will also contribute to other areas by performing data analyses and engaging in broader data science initiatives.

Your profile

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic intern:

• You are in a MSc program or the final year of a BSc in STEM, such as Computer Science, Operations Research, Engineering, Mathematics, Econometrics, Statistics, or a related field.
• Experience with programming in Python for doing data analysis, data science, and/or linear programming.
• Basic understanding of SQL to set up data queries.
• Theoretical knowledge of machine learning techniques and statistics. Experience with LLMs for problem-solving is a plus.
• Experience with Dataiku, PuLP, OR-Tools, and other types of optimization tools is a plus.
• You are enrolled in a Dutch university for the entire duration of your internship.
• You have excellent written and spoken English.
• You are available full-time (40 hours per week) for a minimum of 6 months.
