Desktop Commander, a VC-backed early stage startup is seeking a Senior AI Full Stack Engineer to develop AI applications that integrate with LLMs and the Model Context Protocol (MCP) ecosystem. You'll work at the forefront of AI technology, creating intelligent applications that enable seamless human-AI collaboration. As the first technical hire outside the founding team, you'll have incredible upside and be expected to make a meaningful impact quickly.

You'll build and maintain AI applications using modern JavaScript/TypeScript, backed by our Google Cloud infrastructure. This role involves deep LLM integration, MCP implementations, and creating intuitive user experiences for AI-powered workflows.

Core Technical Requirements (Must-Have):

• Advanced TypeScript/ NodeJS
• Experience with SQL databases
• Experience working with streaming APIs (e.g. SSE / WebSockets) for LLM responses, implementing end-to-end token streaming from LLM to backend and frontend with minimal latency

AI & LLM Integration Experience

• AI code generation and review
• Building AI-powered features in production with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) and understanding of how to translate machine intelligence into user value
• Hands-on experience with prompt engineering and context management
• AI Workflow automations: Experience and understanding of building workflow automations (experience with n8n will be a plus)

Preferred Technical Skills (Nice-to-Have)

• Model Context Protocol (MCP): MCP client implementation, tool calling, transport protocols (STDIO, SSE) 
• Cross-platform desktop development with electron with IPC communication
• Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Docker and other containerization tools
• Experience with internal process automation with n8n or similar tools
• Developer Tools: Building SDKs, CLIs, or developer-facing applications
• Knowledge about application security standards

Experience Level

• 5+ years of software development with JavaScript/TypeScript and Node.js 
• REST API and SQL databases experience
• Client-server applications or API integrations experience
• Familiarity with AI/ML concepts and LLM APIs
• Understanding of async programming and event-driven architectures

Key Responsibilities

• Build scalable AI assistant application integrating LLMs and MCP functionality
• LLM Integration: Implement AI conversation flows, prompt management, streaming responses
• Multi platform desktop architecture: Design Electron-based applications with secure IPC communication
• MCP Integration: Develop integrations with MCP servers for enhanced AI capabilities
• User Experience: Create intuitive interfaces for AI interactions and intelligent assistance
• Provide technical support to customers, work with the user community and open source project
