We want to enhance our presence in Europe, building out some of our leading UK propositions and expertise into European markets, as part of this, we're standing up a new Luxembourg branch.


This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Finance Officer based in Luxembourg and reports to the CFOO of LBCM (Lloyds Bank Corporate Markets) Luxembourg. The role encompasses overarching responsibility for the Finance and Treasury activity that reside in the LBCM Lux legal entity.


Finance requirements:

This position delivers a broad experience of many of the finance roles in a ‘complete bank’ as opposed to one specialism.

  • Support all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. Ensure accuracy and timeliness in all financial activities.
  • Preparation of the Lux branch statutory accounts. Manage the relationship with local auditors and annual audit cycle.
  • Management reporting and MI – preparation and communication in Lux and UK
  • Proactive cost management, and ownership of payroll and accounts payable
  • Ownership of local regulatory reporting to CSSF, BCL and other required returns. Includes COREP, FINREP, statistical reporting, ANA Credit.
  • 4-year operating plan and forecasting.
  • Corporate tax and sales tax returns
  • Oversight of accounting and control provided by UK centres of excellence in Group Finance. Ownership of financial control of the branch.
  • Collaboration with LBCM and CIB finance colleagues in UK on reporting and planning.
  • Support of local ExCo.
  • Oversight of the Internal Group Agreement finance services received – including monthly governance.


Treasury requirements:

You’ll manage the balance sheet of the branch, which involves:

  • Coordinating with the UK lending and Prudential Liquidity Mgmt. teams to ensure assets are loaded correctly into ACBS and to book corresponding funding assets, from the UK, into Summit.
  • Coordinate with UK Prudential Liquidity Mgmt. to book corresponding hedging transactions, from the UK, into Summit.
  • Managing regulatory liquidity requirements, this involves:
  • Ensuring that regulatory liquidity reports (incl. LCR and NSFR), are created by the UK reporting service (GCT) and delivered to the Lux regulators.
  • Ensuring that the branch maintains local responsibility for liquidity mgmt., through the production and execution of branch procedures.
  • Coordinate with UK Prudential Liquidity Mgmt., to assess the size of Euro liquidity requirements and book corresponding deals with the UK and any transactions into the ECB account via BCL.
  • Oversee the balances in branch Nostros.
  • Assisting Group Corporate Treasury, this involves:
  • Coordinating with the shared service on Treasury reporting, including providing supporting information regarding funding cost, LTP and hedge cost management.
  • Establishing and managing effective relationships with partners including presenting at senior level meetings
  • Leading on issue management, communicating and facilitating resolution
  • Managing challenging and competing demands in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrating continuous learning and self-development.


What you’ll need:

  • English - strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A qualified accountant with relevant post qualifying experience
  • A good understanding of external statutory financial reporting requirements and Luxembourg regulatory reporting (CSSF and BCL)
  • A good understanding of Lux GAAP and local Tax and VAT rules is desirable
  • Background of proven delivery to demanding schedules and driving continuous improvement against a constantly evolving landscape
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of partners, utilising well-developed relationship skills
  • Bring a problem-solving approach with the ability to challenge and constructively debate key issues.
  • Effective planning and organizational skills
  • Be tenacious; bring drive, energy, dedication, and integrity to the team.
