Senior Cloud Application Development Engineer

About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Cloud Application Development Engineer to join our Post-Trade IT team. This role involves working across architecture, infrastructure, application development, and information security for several critical IT systems. You’ll play a key role in designing and delivering cloud-based solutions and supporting secure, high-performance applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain middleware infrastructure including Web servers (httpd), Application Servers (RedHat JBoss EAP), and related components.
- Deliver solutions on public cloud platforms (Azure and GCP) using IaaS and PaaS models.
- Develop Java-based business application components, particularly those running on JBoss EAP.
- Evaluate new infrastructure technologies with a focus on cloud architecture, APIs, security, high availability, and data replication.
- Maintain and enhance automation/test frameworks, scripts, and DevOps connectors.
- Participate in major production implementations (approx. 6 annually, including Saturday work).
- Collaborate independently with development, infrastructure, and security teams.
- Document system architecture and security for critical customer-facing applications.
- Report to the Head of Unit and work closely with other domain experts.
Qualifications & Skills
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science.
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Web and Java application infrastructure (httpd, RedHat JBoss EAP).
- Java development using JakartaEE APIs.
- Provisioning Azure Cloud resources using Terraform (preferably Terraform Enterprise).
- Solid understanding of multi-tier Web infrastructure challenges (security, high availability, transaction management).
- Experience with TLS (PKI), certificate/key deployment, and middleware configuration.
- Excellent technical writing skills in English; ability to document architecture and security concepts.
- Practical experience with:
- Apache Maven
- IntelliJ and/or Eclipse IDE
- Linux OS
- OpenIDConnect SSO
- Git
- Additional assets:
- Azure Application Gateway, Azure App Service
- Microsoft IIS configuration
- Jenkins
- RedHat OpenShift/Kubernetes
- ActiveMQ/JBoss A-MQ
- Ansible
- Docker
- Proficiency in English; French and German are a plus.
