The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for a Junior Embedded Engineer to join our growing Embedded Engineering team in Singapore. In this role, you will contribute to the development of firmware and hardware for our hotel automation systems and IoT infrastructure devices.
This is an excellent opportunity to work with a dynamic and innovative team, where you will receive hands-on training in designing, developing, debugging, testing, maintaining, and troubleshooting embedded devices based on microcontrollers.
Your responsibilities will include working with electronic schematic design and interpretation, firmware design, development, testing, and debugging. You will also handle digital communication protocols, both wired and wireless, such as Wi-Fi, BLE, ZigBee, Modbus, M-Bus, and RS485. You will develop and maintain firmware using operating systems like FreeRTOS and work with sensor data acquisition and processing.
Our systems encompass a wide range of embedded technologies across software and hardware development in the enterprise automation and control domains, including areas such as RTOS, wireless protocols (BLE, ZigBee, Wi-Fi), and sensor integration (touch and others).
What You Will Do
- Develop firmware for various microcontrollers
- Develop hardware schematics for digital electronics
- Contribute to the selection of hardware components
- Test existing systems, firmware and devices, building up testbed bench
- Realize and validate prototype
- Write test cases procedures
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation
Organizational Hierarchy
- Reports directly to the Head of Embedded Engineering for responsibilities, schedules, HR-related matters, and status reporting.
- Collaborates closely with other embedded developers and engineers on system integration modules.
What You'll Need To Succeed
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics, Electrical, or Computer Science/Engineering (or equivalent)
- Programming skills: C/C++ (must have); Python and Javascript (nice to have)
- Understanding of digital electronic design
Exposure to:
- State Machine design pattern
- Real-time OS, experiment with FreeRTOS
- Hardware interfaces: ADC, UART, SPI, I2C, RS485
- Embedded platforms: Espressif, Arduino, ARM-based, Raspberry Pi
Preferred requirements
- Electrical engineering skills: PCB design, hardware prototyping
- Communication protocol: Modbus, TCP/IP, MQTT, HTTP
- WiFi/BLE (Espressif), Zigbee (Nordic/TI), and BLE (Nordic) modules
- Multi-processor embedded systems
- Lighting, HVAC, and automation systems
- AWS IoT cloud solutions
- Git, Jira
- Familiar with startup environments
- Willing to learn/explore new technologies
- Critical thinking and problem-solving
- Macbook user
