Role Purpose
AEML powers one of India’s largest metropolitan areas, making cybersecurity a mission-critical function. This role safeguards the smart grid infrastructure, customer data, and digital control systems that ensure reliable electricity distribution across Mumbai. The cybersecurity lead will play a strategic role in protecting against cyberattacks that could compromise public services, financial operations, and consumer trust. Their work directly supports regulatory compliance, operational resilience, and the company’s commitment to digital transformation.
This position reports to the Group Chief Information Security Officer (GCISO).
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy tailored to Adani Electricity Mumbai’s operational and technological landscape.
- Oversee the security of critical infrastructure, including smart meters, mobile applications, and other technology-driven customer solutions.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards, maintaining the organization’s position as a leader in power distribution.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to address vulnerabilities in the IT and OT environments.
- Lead incident response efforts, ensuring rapid containment and resolution of cybersecurity threats.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance the organization’s cybersecurity posture.
- Drive awareness and training programs to foster a culture of cybersecurity across the organization.
- Monitor emerging threats and implement proactive measures to safeguard against potential risks.
- Manage relationships with third-party vendors and service providers, ensuring adherence to security standards.
- Report on cybersecurity performance and risks to the Group CISO and other senior leadership.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Proven expertise in cybersecurity, with 15-20 years of experience in risk management, compliance, and incident response.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks and standards relevant to the power distribution sector.
- Demonstrated experience in leading cybersecurity initiatives in large, complex organizations.
Educational Background
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Master’s degree or certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA preferred.
Years & Type of Experience
- 15-20 years of experience in cybersecurity, with a focus on critical infrastructure protection and regulatory compliance.
- Proven track record of managing cybersecurity teams and implementing enterprise-wide security programs.
Domain Expertise
- In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, tools, and technologies.
- Expertise in securing operational technologies (OT) and IT systems in the power distribution sector.
- Familiarity with smart grid technologies, IoT security, and advanced threat detection systems.
Digital & Operational Tools
- Proficiency in cybersecurity tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, and vulnerability management platforms.
- Experience with risk assessment and compliance management tools.
- Familiarity with technologies used in smart meters and energy management systems.
Leadership Capabilities
- Strategic thinker with the ability to align cybersecurity initiatives with business objectives.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience presenting to senior leadership.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive organizational change.
- Demonstrated success in managing budgets and resources effectively.
