The Role: How you'll make an impact at Buddy Healthcare

Buddy Healthcare is a Finnish health technology company that develops a Care Coordination Platform for hospitals and patients. We’re now looking for a Product Owner to join our team and help shape the next generation of our digital care coordination platform.

The Product Owner is responsible for defining, prioritizing, and validating the features of Buddy Healthcare’s digital care coordination platform. This role bridges clinical, technical, and regulatory perspectives to ensure that every product increment delivers user and business value while maintaining compliance with MDR (EU) 2017/745 and ISO 13485 standards.

The Product Owner works within a cross-functional Scrum team to drive the product vision, ensure clarity of requirements, and maintain alignment between design, development, testing, and quality management processes. We’re open to different strengths, this role could suit either a Product Owner with a technical background (software development, architecture, integrations, APIs), clinical expertise from healthcare (digital healthcare, carepath, clinical validation). or one with a design/UX focus who excels at user-centred product development.

Role Responsibilities: What you'll do

Product Management & Backlog Ownership

  • Own and maintain the product backlog in Jira.
  • Translate high-level business, designs and clinical requirements into well-defined user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Prioritize backlog items based on value, risk, and regulatory impact.
  • Ensure traceability from requirements to verification and validation activities as per MDR requirements.

Agile Delivery & Collaboration

  • Participate actively in all Scrum ceremonies: Sprint Planning, Reviews, and Retrospectives.
  • Collaborate with VP of Product, designers, developers, and testers to refine specifications and verify that deliverables meet acceptance criteria.
  • Facilitate end-of-phase reviews and ensure readiness for release approvals.
  • Act as a link between customer needs, product strategy, and technical implementation.

Regulatory & Quality Responsibilities

  • Work with our Quality Manager to ensure product documentation complies with IEC 62304 and ISO 13485 requirements.
  • Participate in CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) handling for product-related non-conformities.
  • Oversee design verification, validation, and transfer activities in collaboration with Quality Manager and VP of Product.
  • Ensure traceability of all design inputs, outputs, tests, and risk assessments.

Stakeholder Communication

  • Communicate product status, risks, and roadmap updates to internal stakeholders and clinical partners.
  • Help gather and evaluate feedback from end users, customers, and internal teams to guide product evolution.
  • Support customer communication for new features, updates, and incident handling.

Role Requirements: What you need to succeed

  • You bring a solid understanding of agile software development (Scrum or Kanban).
  • Ability to translate user and business needs into structured technical requirements.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills for working with clinical experts, designers, and developers.
  • Analytical and documentation skills with attention to regulatory traceability and version control.
  • Experience managing product backlogs, including verification, validation, and post-release monitoring.
  • Comfortable using tools such as Jira, Confluence, Figma, GitHub, and test management systems.

Beneficial Experience

  • Background in digital health, medical software, or other regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as MDR (EU 2017/745), ISO 13485, and IEC 62304.
  • Experience with risk management and CAPA processes in a QMS environment.
  • Understanding of usability engineering and clinical safety principles.
  • Familiarity with integration standards (e.g., HL7/FHIR).
  • Experience working with multi-platform products (mobile, dashboard, and backend).
  • Basic technical literacy in Python, REST APIs, or mobile app ecosystems (Android/iOS).

This is a full-time position based in Finland, with hybrid flexibility.

Our process is as follows

  • Short phone interview – an initial chat to get to know you and your background.
  • Assignment + on-site interview – a practical exercise to completed before an interview at our Helsinki office.
  • On-site interview with the team – deeper conversation about your skills, ways of working, and alignment with our product vision.
