One of our world leading High Frequency trading clients in Amsterdam is searching for Network Engineers from outside of industry to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity for Network and Network Security Engineers to get into the trading world and establish a high earning career!
You will be responsible for designing, implementing and supporting the WAN, LANs and all low-latency connectivity to trading venues. you'll work closely with our Systems Engineers, other teams and external parties to provide best in class infrastructure solutions supporting the trading business.
Responsibilities
- Design, Implement, and Maintain the European Network Infrastructure: Focus on optimizing low-latency networking, unicast and multicast routing, BGP, PIM-SM, as well as managing QoS, NAT, protocol tuning, cloud networking, and Wi-Fi.
- Monitor, Secure, and Analyze Network Performance: Ensure the smooth operation of the network by actively monitoring performance, running tests with tools like Ekahau Sidekick, and responding to issues proactively.
- Take Corrective and Preventative Actions: Perform regular maintenance, apply fixes to network issues, and implement structural improvements to enhance network stability and performance.
- Automate and Streamline Network Operations: Contribute to automation efforts by writing scripts (Bash, Python) and integrating with automation platforms like Ansible to improve efficiency and reduce manual tasks.
- Document Network Infrastructure and Processes: Maintain clear, up-to-date documentation of network designs, configurations, and operational procedures for ease of reference and knowledge sharing.
- Manage IT Security Platforms: Oversee critical security systems such as Palo Alto firewalls, VPNs, security policies, and NAC solutions (e.g., Aruba ClearPass) to ensure network protection.
- Collaborate with External Vendors and Partners: Work with third-party vendors, exchanges, and service providers to explore new technologies, implement new services, and resolve issues as they arise.
Required Skills and Experience
- Strong Expertise in Network Design and Engineering: Demonstrated experience in both designing and operating network infrastructures.
- In-Depth Knowledge of Networking Protocols: Expert-level understanding of protocols such as TCP/IP, BGP, and PIM-SM.
- Proficient in Network Analysis Tools: Comfortable using tools like tcpdump and Wireshark, with the ability to apply filters and analyze traffic without needing external resources.
- Skilled in Automation and Scripting: Proficient in Python or other programming languages, with the ability to contribute to automation initiatives and streamline network operations.
- Solid Linux Knowledge: Familiar with Linux systems, including CentOS/Rocky, and have a strong understanding of system-level operations.
- Palo Alto Firewalls & Aruba Clearpass: Experience with both is vital for this role.
