About StackGuardian
At StackGuardian, we’re on a mission to revolutionize cloud orchestration by building a scalable, secure, and developer-friendly platform. Our solutions empower organizations to deliver reliable software faster, without compromising on security or compliance. If you’re passionate about platform engineering and love being in the thick of coding, design, and leadership, we’d love to talk to you!
About the Role:
We’re looking for a UI Designer with proven experience in design systems to join our small, collaborative design team.
You’ll work closely with the Design Lead and two other designers to build, document, and maintain a unified design system for a single product.
This role is hands-on and focused on Figma-based design system work — creating components, defining tokens, documenting usage, and ensuring consistency and clarity for our development team.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Design Lead in building and evolving the Design System for our product.
- Create and maintain Figma components, variables, and tokens, ensuring clear structure and scalability.
- Document component guidelines, naming conventions, and usage directly in Figma.
- Collaborate closely with developers to ensure accurate and consistent implementation.
- Handle day-to-day design system maintenance and updates based on feedback and product needs.
- Contribute to visual design refinement to ensure high-quality, cohesive UI output.
Requirements:
- Proven hands-on experience working with or maintaining a design system (please include examples or case studies).
- Expert-level proficiency in Figma — components, variants, auto layout, tokens, and documentation workflows.
- Strong visual design skills and attention to detail.
- Deep understanding of design system concepts such as design tokens, variables, theming, and scalable structures.
- Familiarity with modern libraries like shadcn/ui or similar component-driven systems.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills with both design and development teams.
- Proactive, organized, and comfortable working remotely in a small team.
Nice to Have:
- Understanding of accessibility and responsive design considerations within design systems.
- Previous experience working on SaaS or product-based teams.
Contract Details:
- Part-time freelance (around 20 hours/week) for an initial 6-month contract.
- Potential to transition into a full-time position depending on project needs and performance.
- 100% remote, ideally within European time zones.
