Position Overview

The Head of IT & Infrastructure will be responsible for leading all aspects of IT operations, infrastructure engineering, and Datacenter management across our global trading and research environments, based in the Company’s headquarter in Zug.

This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on technical expertise, ensuring world-class reliability, scalability, and performance across a distributed compute environment of over 10,000 (CPU and GPU cores) supporting low-latency trading, quantitative research, and machine learning workloads,


Key Responsibilities


Infrastructure & Datacenter Operations

* Lead design, deployment, and maintenance of high-performance computing infrastructure across multiple data centers (on-premise and colocation) and own Datacenter.

* Oversee hardware lifecycle management including server provisioning, GPU clusters, storage systems (NAS/SAN), and backup architectures.

* Ensure 24/7 uptime and optimal utilization of compute and storage resources through proactive monitoring, automation, and capacity planning.

* Coordinate with vendors, colocation facilities, and internal teams on power, cooling, and rack space planning.

* Implement robust disaster recovery, business continuity, and security frameworks.

Networking

* Architect and manage ultra-low-latency and high-availability networks between data centers, exchanges, and offices (Layer 2/3, multicast, BGP, OSPF, PTP, VLAN segmentation).

* Oversee connectivity to trading venues, brokers, and cloud environments using cross-connects, dark fiber, and redundant routing.

* Optimize network performance, latency, and security through continuous tuning and real-time telemetry systems.

* Manage relationships with global network providers, ISPs, and hardware vendors (Cisco, Arista, Juniper, Mellanox, etc.).

Systems & Security

* Maintain and optimize Linux-based environments (RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS) and related automation frameworks (Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, etc.).

* Drive security best practices across infrastructure, networking, and endpoints — including patch management, access control, and intrusion detection.

* Collaborate with trading and development teams to integrate new systems, deploy updates, and ensure seamless performance between software and hardware stacks.

* Oversee identity management, VPNs, firewalls, and endpoint monitoring solutions.

Leadership & Strategy

* Build and lead a high-performing global infrastructure team (system engineers, network engineers, datacenter technicians).

* Define long-term infrastructure roadmap — including compute scalability, cloud-hybrid expansion, and cost optimization.

* Manage IT budgets, vendor negotiations, and hardware procurement strategies.

* Partner with CTO, COO, and trading leadership to align technology infrastructure with business objectives and growth.

* Maintain documentation, compliance with data-protection standards, and audit readiness.


Required Qualifications:

* 10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure management, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.

* Proven experience operating large-scale compute clusters (5,000+ cores) or GPU-based research environments.

* Deep knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, PTP, multicast), routing, and switching.

* Strong Linux systems administration background and familiarity with virtualization and containerization (VMware, KVM, Docker, Kubernetes).

* Expertise in datacenter operations, hardware lifecycle management, and vendor coordination.

* Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks and best practices.

* Strong problem-solving, documentation, and project management skills.

* Language proficiency: English - native or working proficiency, German - native or working proficiency.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience in financial trading, high-performance computing, or quantitative research environments.

* Knowledge of FPGA connectivity, market data feed handling, and exchange colocation setups.

* Experience with hybrid cloud and orchestration tools (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
