Our client, a growing FMCG company is seeking to hire a Senior Accountant to join their team in Muscat.


The Senior Accountant will play a key role in managing the financial operations of the company, ensuring accurate accounting, compliance, and timely reporting up to finalization. The role involves overseeing daily accounting functions, month-end and year-end closing activities, and supporting management in strategic financial decisions.


The ideal candidate will have strong experience in the FMCG industry, with an in-depth understanding of cost management, inventory accounting, and financial controls.


Key Responsibilities:

Accounting & Reporting

  • Manage the full spectrum of accounting activities up to finalization of accounts.
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
  • Handle month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations, adjustments, and provisions.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of all general ledger accounts.


FMCG-Specific Functions

  • Monitor and reconcile inventory movements, costing, and variances in coordination with supply chain and warehouse teams.
  • Support cost accounting, product pricing analysis, and margin reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls for FMCG operations, including stock counts and expense allocations.


Compliance & Audit

  • Assist in statutory audits, internal audits, and tax filings.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and local regulations.
  • Prepare supporting documentation and schedules for external auditors.


Financial Analysis & Support

  • Support the Finance Manager and CFO with management reports, variance analysis, and performance tracking.
  • Participate in budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Recommend process improvements for better accuracy, efficiency, and cost control.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA / CFA / CA preferred).
  • Minimum 5–8 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in the FMCG industry.
  • Proven experience in accounts finalization, inventory accounting, and cost analysis.
