At our development center in Böblingen, we work with cutting-edge methods on core components of IBM Z firmware. We are expanding the functionality of the next system generation, preparing the mainframe for even more modern workloads.
To strengthen our team, we are looking for a developer (m/f/d) in the area of host firmware.
Our team provides the foundation of the I/O stack based on PCI Express technology. We are also responsible for controlling the machine’s boot process and implementing the communication control with the system management stack.
Your Role And Responsibilities
As a Firmware developer, you will be responsible for the complete development cycle, and you will own design and development for essential Mainframe functionality.

Your Role And Responsibilities
- Designing new features, incorporating both our own and externally supplied hardware components,
- Designing the necessary firmware with consideration of system-wide aspects,
- Implementing software components in C++,
- Verifying these components regarding functional and non-functional requirements,
- Commissioning the features in prototypes and test systems.
As a Firmware developer, you will be responsible for the complete development cycle, and you will own design and development for essential Mainframe functionality.
Preferred Education
Master's Degree
Required Technical And Professional Expertise
- Computer / System architecture
- (Object oriented) programming languages - e.g. C/C++, Java
- Experience in agile development teams
- Language: Fluent in German and English languages
- Beyond Software Development, also experience with Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery would be great
- Development on Linux operating system
- Network protocols
