As Product Sustainability Manager, you will collaborate with the Global Leadership team and be responsible for executing product strategies that extend the lifespan, recycle potential, and end – of – life value of products across regions. This role reports directly to the EVP of Product and ensures core strategies are included in the global product roadmap and aligned with innovation, growth, and sustainability priorities. The individual will partner with regional commercial leadership, EHS, product category teams, R & D, supply chain and marketing, to support measurable lifecycle impact initiatives and develop additional new value streams.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement sustainability strategies aligned with the direction of our global leadership team and our corporate goals.
- Keep up to date on sustainability market intelligence and trends, assess customer expectations and understand competitor offerings related to lifecycle and circularity.
- To maintain our commitment to sustainability and regulatory adherence, partner closely with third parties, EHS resources and the legal department to track and interpret global regulations, ensuing compliance requirements are integrated into our product standards, documentation, and roll – out plans.
- Manage lifecycle initiatives: work with internal stakeholders to build scalable solutions and present strong business cases, and integrate sustainability strategies across product briefs, material selection, packaging, and end-of life planning
- Ensure the sustainability value proposition is explicit by documenting and demonstrating the economic, environmental, and social benefits of our products, including relevant metrics.
- Partnering closely with product and commercial leaders promote our sustainable strategies and relevant products at customer meetings, ensuring key technical information and sustainability benefits are well understood. Influence new product development to reduce waste and create long-term value.
- Support the creation of multi-year roadmaps that integrate durability, repairability, recyclability, take-back and circular design principles.
- Support the completion of brand questionnaires and commercial requests.
- Communicate sustainability goals and lead ESG reporting: work with key internal and external stakeholders to collate relevant data for our annual sustainability report and engage with third party to draft, collaborate with marketing organisation to develop presentations and campaigns.
- Represent the company at trade shows, sustainability forums, conferences, and networks to promote our sustainability initiatives.
- Partner closely with the EHS Director and sustainability resources to support required product certifications (CRS / RCS and LCA), and accreditations (HIGG FEM / FSLM, ISCC+, SBTi targets etc.), including overseeing pre – audits / audits and supporting closure of any corrective actions identified.
Essential Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, sustainability, environmental science, or a related field.
- 5+ years’ experience in a technical, sustainability, ESG, or corporate responsibility role.
- Experience of developing sustainability strategies and goals and establishing metrics.
- Strong knowledge of sustainability trends, frameworks, reporting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience of life cycle assessment (LCA) and familiarity with GRS / RCS, ISCC+, SBTI and EU Green Deal regulations and directives.
- Knowledge of recycling systems.
- Analytical mindset to assess market trends, customer needs and performance metrics.
- Strong project and process management skills
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, ability to develop strategic partnerships with external parties and explain product technical data etc.
- Demonstrated ability to influence without authority and foster effective collaboration between stakeholders, both internal and external.
- Good business acumen, flexible, resilient.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; must be fluent in English.
- Ability to travel globally.
Desirable:
- Master’s degree in environmental science or sustainability.
- Experience in a textile, fiber, apparel and / or consumer goods market.
