The Role

As a Backend TypeScript Developer, you’ll take ownership of designing and maintaining reliable, scalable backend systems with a strong focus on PostgreSQL schema design, SQL optimisation, and backend architecture.

While you’ll occasionally contribute to the React frontend, your primary focus will be building and optimising backend services, APIs, and data models that power advanced analytics and AI-driven insights.

You’ll work alongside a talented engineering team passionate about clean architecture, data performance, and technical excellence.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Design and implement backend services using Node.js (NestJS) and TypeScript
• Build and maintain PostgreSQL schemas, queries, and migrations
• Optimise SQL queries for performance, scalability, and reliability
• Design and maintain RESTful APIs with a focus on security and performance
• Work with time-series data (TimescaleDB) for real-time analytics and data modeling
• Participate in architecture discussions and scaling strategies
• Contribute to React frontend improvements where needed

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of backend development experience with Node.js/TypeScript (NestJS)
• Advanced SQL skills (query optimisation, indexing strategies, schema design)
• Hands-on experience with database migrations and schema evolution in production systems
• Strong understanding of API design, authentication, and backend architecture patterns
• Experience with debugging, profiling, and performance tuning backend systems
• Knowledge of time-series databases such as TimescaleDB

Bonus Points For

• Experience with stream processing (Apache Flink, Kafka Streams, or Spark Streaming)
• Familiarity with Docker/Kubernetes or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices
• Exposure to React and frontend development
