From this continued success we are now looking to recruit a PHP Developer to allow us to continue our exciting growth plans.

As a PHP Developer, you will play a crucial role in delivering new functionality to improve the Propeller application and in-turn support the company’s growth as more business is generated through it. As a Developer, you will have the opportunity to contribute to ongoing product development ensuring the quality of the product through sprint planning, sprint reviews, and a commitment to continuous improvement.


Propel Finance is technologically driven, with a substantial volume of business originating via our web application called Propeller. Developed primarily with the Laravel PHP framework, utilising a LAMP stack and hosted on Amazon AWS; Propeller automates customer interaction through a variety of core business databases and external data sources. It uses industry-leading web services and Propeller’s web services to provide a web-based solution to both Propel Finance staff and our network of partners.


Role responsibilities.


Working as part of a wider project team, develop and deliver a complex digital product that ultimately supports commercial business priorities.


Collaborate with the project team to define the scope, offer feedback, and agree on mutually positive and achievable solutions.


Manage support requests through a dedicated support tracker.


Communicate confidently with colleagues and internal stakeholders.


You’ll also be responsible for assessing and employing fit for purpose automated testing strategies (Unit, Integration, function & acceptance testing).


Key skills required;


Excellent knowledge of software development using PHP and a good understanding of basic design patterns

Experience in creating and delivering complex web applications using Laravel

Excellent knowledge of MySQL, understanding the principles of building and optimising MySQL databases

Experience of using and developing REST API’s including RESTful JSON APIs and SOAP XML APIs

An understanding of Linux. Our LAMP stack means you will have to be comfortable using the Linux command line to get things done

Vue.js, Vuex (or another similar JavaScript framework)

Amazon Web Services, including how to manage and monitor server instances and database instances PHP Unit & TDD (Test Driven Development)

PHP, Javascript, HTML, CSS, NPM,

Composer MongoDB Docker AWS

Continuous Integration knowledge

Knowledge of clean code and common design patterns
