Job Description:
- The User Experience Design team aims to become the industry leader in exceptional digital experiences by putting strategy, research, design principles, and technical innovation at the core of product creation.
- The Hybrid Interaction/Visual Designer will collaborate in an agile, interdisciplinary environment to shape digital product experiences from concept to delivery, leveraging interaction and visual design expertise to engage, inspire, and delight users.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Understand user interface patterns and behaviours to improve comprehension and task performance.
- Use visualizations and interactive elements to support analytic thinking with large data sets.
- Facilitate design critiques, assess inclusivity of interactions, and provide expert guidance to cross-functional teams.
- Lead ideation sessions and collaborative workshops.
- Act as the interaction design subject-matter expert for the product design team.
- Apply interaction and visual design theory, research, and best practices to inform design decisions.
- Create complex low-fidelity sketches, wireframes, and prototypes to explore and validate concepts.
- Develop high-fidelity prototypes and specifications for development teams.
- Present design concepts and rationale to senior stakeholders.
- Facilitate usability testing and incorporate feedback into design iterations.
- Conduct research activities, competitive audits, and industry trend analysis specific to financial services.
- Audit design patterns, micro-interactions, and components for continuous improvement.
Must Have:
- BA/BS degree in Design (interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), HCI, CS, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Portfolio with application design samples.
- Minimum 5 years of experience designing usable interfaces across multiple channels/platforms.
- Experience in applied research settings, integrating user research into product designs.
- Ability to clearly articulate design strategies, rationale, and associated risks.
- Proficiency with design, prototyping, and research tools such as Figma, Mural, and UserTesting.com.
Nice to Have:
- Highly Preferred - Candidates with at least some/most of their recent experience be in ecommerce, retail, or loyalty/rewards.
- MA/MS degree or certification in Design, HCI, CS, or related field.
- Strong understanding of research methods and their application across product phases.
- Appreciation and practical application of design thinking principles.
- Experience working in large organizations and within agile environments.
