Duties and Responsibilities: Reporting to the Senior Manager of Cyber Security & Risk, the Information Technology Security Analyst will be responsible for:
  • Maintaining a comprehensive understanding of threat assessments, risk management, and incident response.
  • This role involves driving the remediation of vulnerabilities across the corporate network, identifying internal and external threats to the Corporation, and ensuring the security of confidential corporate and staff-related information.
  • Proactively following industry standards and recommending updates to internal procedures, configurations, and the design of the security framework to align with the corporate objectives of the security team and the IT department.
  • Assisting with the ongoing design and implementation of security infrastructure, including identifying and prioritizing security requirements, selecting appropriate security technologies and tools, and developing implementation and operational plans.
  • Managing and maintaining security architecture, monitoring potential threats, responding to incidents, and adjusting to the evolving threat landscape and business needs.
  • Developing and maintaining Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans.
  • Assisting with the development of metrics and reporting to measure the effectiveness of the Corporation’s security activities, ensuring compliance with legislation, and industry best practices, such as NIST and ISO.
  • Supporting the senior manager of Cybersecurity and Risk in creating reports for the Corporation’s senior management and council on the status of cyber security and risk for the Corporation.
  • Evaluating, selecting, and recommending technology vendors, and managing vendor relationships related to cyber security.
  • Conducting continuous monitoring of networks and systems, regular security assessments, audits, and penetration testing to ensure the ongoing security and resilience of the organization's technology infrastructure.
  • Assisting with the development and maintenance of policies and procedures, including detailed instructions and processes on overall security objectives, defining acceptable use of technology, and establishing stakeholder responsibilities.
  • Creating processes and runbooks for responding to various security incidents.
  • Developing training and employee awareness programs on cybersecurity best practices, policies, and procedures, including performing phishing tests and campaigns to teach staff how to recognize, respond to, and report security incidents, and how to handle sensitive data, and use technology securely.
  • Managing and operating the corporate firewall and VPN infrastructure which requires experience with specialized infrastructure and technology.
  • Will perform Occupational Health & Safety duties as outlined in the Corporation’s Health and Safety Program.
  • Will perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • Must have a Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related fields or an Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency and a minimum of four (4) years of experience in supporting IT technology solutions related to security and risk management, asset security, secure architecture and communications, network security, identity and access management. 
  • OR Must have a University Degree in Computer Science or related fields or an Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency and a minimum of six (6) years of experience in supporting IT technology solutions related to security and risk management, asset security, secure architecture and communications, network security, identity and access management.
  • A cybersecurity certification such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) would be an asset.
  • Should have knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, its regulations and knowledge of the hazards associated with the work.
Physical Demands:
  • Given that this is a new position a Physical Demands analysis will be completed with the incumbent after approximately six months of occupying the position.
