About the Opportunity
We are seeking a versatile IT Systems and Cybersecurity Analyst to join our dynamic IT team in Houston. This hybrid role combines hands-on systems support with proactive cybersecurity expertise, ensuring seamless operations and robust protection for our growing organization. Essential Functions
- Provide tier-2 daily support for end-users, troubleshooting and resolving issues across desktops, Office 365, and other company-deployed software applications.
- Administer and deploy Meraki hardware for network infrastructure, including configuration, monitoring, and maintenance to support reliable connectivity.
- Facilitate internet connectivity for new office locations, including setup of routers, firewalls, and initial network configurations to ensure quick and secure onboarding.
- Collaborate with team members to maintain system uptime, perform routine audits, and optimize software integrations for enhanced productivity.
- Conduct risk assessments and make informed recommendations on security enhancements, drawing from personal experience and current industry trends.
- Manage Office 365 security features, including identity management, data loss prevention, and compliance configurations.
- Oversee network and endpoint security protocols, implementing best practices to safeguard against threats.
- Operate and analyze the Darktrace SOC appliance to detect anomalies, prioritize incidents, and guide response actions.
- Utilize existing security tools such as Sophos EDR for endpoint detection and response, Mimecast for email security, Pentera for automated vulnerability assessments, and Adaptive for adaptive threat protection—performing regular reviews, updates, and reporting.
- Stay abreast of emerging threats and contribute to the development of security policies as the role and organization scale.
- Document processes, incidents, and resolutions to build a knowledge base for the team.
- Participate in cross-functional projects, such as system upgrades or security audits, with a focus on scalability.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement in IT operations and security.

Experience/Education
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of experience in IT systems support and/or cybersecurity roles.
- Proven ability to handle desktop, Office 365, and application troubleshooting in a production environment.
- Hands-on experience with Meraki networking hardware, including deployment and administration.
- Knowledge of internet connectivity setup for remote sites, including basic networking concepts (e.g., VLANs, DHCP, DNS).
- Familiarity with Office 365 security, network security fundamentals, and endpoint protection strategies.
- Experience managing Darktrace or similar AI-driven SOC tools for threat detection and response.
- Proficiency with security tools like Sophos EDR, Mimecast, Pentera, and Adaptive (or comparable solutions).
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Willingness to work on-site in Houston, with flexibility for occasional travel to new locations.
- Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, CCNA, or Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals preferred.
- Experience in a mid-sized or growing organization, with exposure to scalable IT/security infrastructures preferred.
- Background in making data-driven security recommendations based on industry reports (e.g., NIST, CIS benchmarks) preferred.
