We are working to replace passwords and clunky verification systems with a biometric-first, frictionless identity platform. Facial recognition, NFC passports, location-based identity. Together our identity signals provide a bleeding-edge authentication platform, and we’re building it from the ground up.

We’re a lean, ambitious team. No fluff, no massive org charts. You’ll be one of the first key members shaping the Android side of our platform, owning features end-to-end, and defining how millions of people might verify themselves securely in the future.

What we’re looking for:

• A Kotlin/Java Android developer who can not just build, but architect a secure, performant, and globally-compatible mobile experience.
• Someone who gets deep, and thrives, in biometrics, NFC, MRZ scanning, and mobile security protocols.
• A self-starter who can tackle problems most people don’t even think about yet: offline security, encryption, NFC passport reading across borders, PACE/BAC authentication.

What you’ll do:

• Build and maintain Verefa’s Android app, handling advanced biometric authentication flows, NFC passport scanning, app state details, concurrent processing, and resistive anti-fraud technology.
• Work directly with the core team on architecture, security, and feature design.
• Collaborate with backend engineers to implement secure, real-time communication between mobile and server.
• Make tough decisions on performance, reliability, and security that will affect millions of users.
• Build your codebase from the ground up, receive trust and responsibility for some of the initial builds of the future of the android identity platform.
• Keep the app cutting-edge: push notifications, secure storage, device fingerprinting, location-based fraud checks.

What we expect:

• Strong Android development experience and released apps.
• Deep understanding of Android SDK, lifecycle, architecture components, and best practices.
• Familiarity with biometric auth, NFC passport reading, encryption, and secure data handling.
• Startup mentality: independent, fast-moving, and comfortable with uncertainty.
• Excellent problem-solving, attention to detail, and code quality.
• You thrive on ownership and want to be part of a founding team.

Nice-to-haves:

• Experience with BAC/PACE/EAC passport authentication.
• MRZ scanning experience.
• CI/CD knowledge and mobile test automation.
• A passion for privacy and security.

Compensation:

• Equity in Verefa.
• Formal vesting and share allocation via a shareholders agreement and vesting schedule.
