Principal Backend Engineer (.NET & PHP) (Latam)

As a Principal Backend Engineer, you will lead backend development initiatives, driving the design, implementation, and maintenance of robust web applications. You will play a pivotal role in architecting scalable, high-performance systems and modernizing legacy codebases. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will ensure technical excellence, enforce best practices, and mentor junior developers. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on product architecture and engineering culture while collaborating in a fully remote, Latin America-based environment. Accountabilities

• Lead the backend engineering team in designing, developing, and maintaining web applications using .NET and PHP
• Architect and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance systems
• Oversee migration of legacy PHP applications to modern .NET-based solutions
• Conduct code reviews, enforce coding standards, and ensure quality deliverables
• Collaborate with front-end developers, designers, and project managers to deliver cohesive solutions
• Mentor junior engineers, promoting continuous learning and development within the team
• Provide accurate estimates and progress updates for feature development and system enhancements
  
  
  

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, with 5+ years in .NET development
• Proven experience leading engineering teams and managing project deliverables
• Strong expertise in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and backend architecture
• Experience building and integrating RESTful APIs
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across distributed teams
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Advantageous: Experience with TypeScript, React.js, Vue.js, Java, Scala, Kotlin, Python, legacy system modernization, and web security/performance optimization
