For an growing tech company headquartered in Amsterdam, focused on building scalable, low-latency, cloud-native platforms for global clients. With a strong engineering culture and a commitment to DevOps excellence, we believe in automation, observability, and continuous improvement. You’ll join a collaborative team of engineers, platform experts, and product owners who thrive in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment.
The Role
As our Lead DevOps Engineer, you will:
- Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing optimization of low-latency CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (IaC), and deployment workflows.
- Architect, automate, and maintain infrastructure optimized for high throughput and minimal latency across all environments.
- Define and enforce best practices for infrastructure performance, reliability, and scalability with a focus on real-time and latency-sensitive workloads.
- Own and evolve our platform tooling, observability stack, monitoring/alerting systems, and incident response.
- Mentor engineers on DevOps, performance tuning, and low-latency system design.
- Collaborate with Software Engineering and Product teams to ensure smooth, efficient delivery of high-performance services.
- Drive adoption of containerisation, orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes), and microservices tuned for network efficiency and sub-millisecond response times.
- Monitor and improve system performance metrics—latency, throughput, uptime, and DORA indicators (lead time, change failure rate, MTTR).
Your Profile
Must-haves:
- 8+ years in DevOps/SRE/platform roles, including leadership experience.
- Expertise in low-latency distributed systems and performance optimisation at both infrastructure and network levels.
- Deep experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP): VPCs, autoscaling, load balancing, and security.
- Proficiency in IaC tools (Terraform, Pulumi, CloudFormation) and configuration management (Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
- Advanced knowledge of containerisation (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes, EKS/GKE/AKS) including service mesh and network tuning.
- CI/CD expertise (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions) for high-speed build/deploy pipelines.
- Strong background in monitoring and observability (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, ELK/EFK).
- Proven ability to build high-availability, high-throughput, and ultra-low-latency systems.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills in English.
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience in financial trading, gaming, or streaming environments where latency is critical.
- Knowledge of performance profiling, kernel/network tuning, or CDN/edge computing strategies.
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, SOC2) and DevSecOps principles.
- Experience defining DevOps culture in fast-scaling or distributed teams.
What We Offer
- A leadership position shaping the infrastructure of mission-critical, low-latency systems.
- Competitive salary and equity package.
- Flexible hybrid setup and generous vacation policy.
- Annual training & conference budget to keep you at the cutting edge.
