Full-timeInformation Technology

At Cardboard, we’re on a mission to make company spending simple, transparent, and stress-free. Today, companies waste time chasing receipts, tracking down who bought which tool, and manually sorting subscription chaos. That’s not time well spent, so we built Cardboard: a smarter way to organize, pay, and automate everything related to subscription spend. We make SaaS management straightforward and even enjoyable, one company at a time.

We’re a Norwegian startup founded in 2022, backed by strong investors, and are growing fast. Our backend is rock solid - now we’re looking for our UX Engineer who can make our product feel as good as it works. Want to join our journey?

About the position

As our UX Engineer, you’ll take full ownership of the user journey. You’ll work on everything from how things look and behave to how intuitive they are to use. You’ll be someone who shapes the product together with us, and make Cardboard intuitive and a joy to use, through pixels and code.

We believe some of your responsibilities will be to:

  • Own the user experience, from understanding user needs and shaping flows, to designing and implementing the interface.
  • Write HTML, CSS, Python, and TypeScript to bring design to life on our frontend.
  • Interact with users to understand real needs and pain points.
  • Build new functionality together with the rest of the team, from concept to shipped product. You’ll have a voice in deciding what we build, why we build it, and how it should feel.
  • Help us bring in the right partners (like design agencies) when we need to evolve our visual identity.

Who we believe you are

First of all, we believe you care deeply about how it all feels in the browser. We’re looking for someone who can think like a designer, build like a frontend developer, and doesn’t mind getting their hands dirty in both worlds. In addition to that, we believe you:

  • Are strong in HTML and CSS, and love to implement clean, friendly, and accessible UI.
  • Are familiar working in cross-functional product teams.
  • Enjoy being part of product discussions and influencing what gets built.
  • Are comfortable working in a small team, and enjoy wearing multiple hats.
  • We don’t expect you to be a visual designer, but you should be comfortable shaping layouts, flows, and interactions and turning them into code.

It’s also nice if you have:

  • Strong experience with some sort of frontend framework (React, Vue.js, Svelte, or similar).
  • Experience working with SaaS companies.
  • Experience from startups/scaleups, and are used to working in an environment where we build as we go, with little to no formalized processes.

What’s in it for you?

  • Ownership of what you’re working with, and the freedom to do what you believe is best.
  • Work in a small and collaborative team that values quality and simplicity.
  • Competitive compensation.
  • Be part of building the product and our company together with us, and collaborate directly with our founders.
  • Great colleagues in an informal and flat culture.
  • Opportunity for impact - have an idea? We’d love to hear it!
  • Modern and central offices in the middle of Oslo. No “free-seating” or “clean desk”.
  • Everything you need to do your job, both hardware and software.

Interested in joining our team? We'd love to see your application!
