We are seeking a strategic and analytical Data Scientist to create intelligence systems that enhance teaching, learning and operational excellence. You will be responsible for designing data foundations, insight models, and automation pipelines to advance the school’s digital transformation efforts, strengthening data-driven decision-making and institutional foresight.


This role requires a data-driven professional with specialist expertise to harness data, automation, and artificial intelligence for building and sustaining institutional capabilities across the organization.


Institutional Intelligence and Data Infrastructure

  • Design, build, and maintain data pipelines and integration frameworks across school systems (e.g. Google Workspace, n8n, Power BI, PeRL, RPMS, and LMS data).
  • Develop dashboards, analytics models, and insight tools that provide leadership teams with predictive, diagnostic, and evaluative intelligence.
  • Create and manage a unified data architecture that supports institutional foresight, trend analysis, and strategic reporting.
  • Establish robust data governance structures in collaboration with IT and Planning & Infrastructure, ensuring accuracy, privacy, and compliance.


AI, Automation, and Digital Productivity

  • Co-design and implement AI-enabled workflows to streamline administrative and pedagogical processes (e.g. RPMS automation, comment generation, e-portfolios, credentialing).
  • Explore and prototype data-driven automation systems that free teacher time and enhance decision quality.
  • Evaluate and apply machine-learning or analytics models to support operational efficiency, learning analytics, and resource optimization.


Data Governance and Policy Implementation

  • Translate institutional policies on data protection, access control, and ethics into operational practice.
  • Maintain documentation, audit trails and metadata registries to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Work closely with school leadership, IT, and academic departments to embed a culture of responsible data use and literacy.


Capacity Building and Knowledge Transfer

  • Build staff capability through workshops, guides, and documentation on data interpretation, dashboard use, and digital productivity tools.
  • Support teams in developing data fluency and in leveraging insights for curriculum, operations, and planning.
  • Contribute to professional learning, internal sharing, and cross-department collaboration on data-informed innovation.


Research, Development, and Foresight

  • Undertake applied research and development in institutional analytics, automation, and artificial-intelligence systems aligned with RGS’s Digital Transformation roadmap.
  • Anticipate emerging technologies and propose adaptive strategies that strengthen the
  • school’s long-term digital readiness.
  • Translate foresight findings into actionable roadmaps for the Digital Transformation Office and senior leadership, guiding data-informed planning and resource decisions.


Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Data Science, Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
  • Minimum three years of relevant experience in data science, analytics engineering, or related fields, with demonstrated experience in building analytics capabilities and integrated data solutions.
  • Experience with systems integration, workflow automation, or institutional analytics within education or public-sector is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, with experience in machine-learning algorithms, statistical modelling, and predictive analytics.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, collaboration, and change management.
  • Fresh graduates with outstanding portfolios or postgraduate experience in data science projects may also be considered.
