Junior VR Teleoperation Engineer
Location: San Francisco, CA (On-site / Hybrid)
Compensation: $120K–$150K base, depending on experience
Company: Next-Generation Robotics Startup
About the Role
We’re looking for a Junior VR Teleoperation Engineer to help build the immersive telepresence layer of our robotics platform. You’ll develop intuitive, real-time VR interfaces that allow operators to see, feel, and control the world through the robot — ensuring comfort, responsiveness, and precision in every interaction.
This is a hands-on role ideal for someone from a VR, AR, or game development background who’s passionate about building real-world applications of immersive technology. Robotics experience is a plus, but not required.
What You’ll Do
- Develop VR teleoperation interfaces for real-time robot control and visualization of camera feeds.
- Create immersive experiences that deliver strong situational awareness and intuitive control.
- Implement low-latency data streaming from robot sensors and cameras to VR headsets.
- Integrate VR applications with robot hardware and backend control systems.
- Optimize for operator comfort and long-duration telepresence usability.
- Collaborate with robotics and software teams to evolve the teleoperation stack.
What We’re Looking For
- 1–3 years of experience developing VR applications in Unity or Unreal Engine.
- Strong understanding of VR fundamentals — input systems, rendering, tracking, and UX.
- Solid programming skills in C# or C++ for real-time application development.
- Experience with low-latency networking, streaming, or real-time data systems.
- Bonus: Familiarity with audio-visual streaming pipelines, haptics, or teleoperation systems
