Head of Engineering - Software Consultancy | Sydney | Hybrid (3 days in office) $190k - $210k + super

We’re working with a fast-growing software consultancy that partners with ambitious organisations to create and scale outstanding digital products. Backed by a mid-sized engineering team and a diverse client portfolio, they’re seeking a leader who can strengthen their technical capability and champion strategic delivery.

This position centers on technical vision, leadership, and impact. It’s ideal for someone who understands technology at a deep level and can translate that knowledge into business outcomes and lasting client success.

The Day to Day

• Guide and inspire a growing team of engineers to build reliable, scalable digital products.
• Collaborate closely with product and operations leaders to define direction, delivery timelines, and shared goals.
• Shape the technical landscape through full-stack architectural choices for both web and mobile platforms.
• Champion innovation by exploring emerging technologies, frameworks, and industry best practices, sharing insights that elevate the team's craft.
• Oversee project evaluation from initial concept to technical design and team configuration to ensure successful execution.
• Take ownership of delivering not only exceptional technical solutions but also meaningful results and team growth.

About You:

• Capacity to shift focus quickly while guiding others through ambiguity.
• Proven ability to lead and mentor engineering teams.
• Previous experience working in a software consultancy or digital agency.
• Strong background in JavaScript across various frameworks or environments.
• Experience in cross-platform mobile development (Flutter or React Native).
• Leadership style that blends empathy, clarity, and decisiveness.
