The Native Media Platform team is part of the Real-Time Communication organisation, powering voice and video calling for Microsoft Teams, Dynamics, and the Copilot family of products. We build a secure, modular platform that runs seamlessly across Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, Linux, and the Web - bringing real-time communication experiences to devices of the user’s choice. Our technology impacts millions of users daily, and we’re looking for a passionate engineer to help us extend these experiences to more products and scenarios. As a Software Engineer, you will design and build our core media platform SDK capabilities to work across a variety of desktop and mobile platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Works with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a set of features.
  • Contributes to the identification of dependencies, and the development of design documents for a product area with little oversight.
  • Creates and implements code for a product, service, or feature, reusing code as applicable.
  • Contributes to efforts to break down larger work items into smaller work items and provides estimation.
  • Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) working on-call to monitor system/product feature/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions and gains approval to restore system/product/service for simple problems.
  • Remains current in skills by investing time and effort into staying abreast of current developments that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Professional experience developing software in C++.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Motivation to learn and grow.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with realtime communications, native SDKs, and/or media domains.
  • Experience building C++ libraries
  • Experience with native cross-platform codebases
  • Familiarity with real-time communications technologies such as WebRTC
