The Role
We are looking for a fashion-forward and detail-oriented Merchandise Operations Assistant to manage the day-to-day execution of our digital merchandising and product data operations. This is an entry-level role, ideal for fresh graduates or professionals with up to 1–2 years’ experience in merchandising, e-commerce, or related fields.
This hands-on position combines AI-powered product content creation, marketplace merchandising quality control, and data-driven seasonal planning. You will optimise online product presentation using LLM tools, ensuring accuracy, discoverability, and alignment with seasonal trends.
This is a perfect opportunity for someone passionate about fashion and e-commerce, eager to gain practical experience with emerging AI tools and operational merchandising workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Product Data Operations & AI Workflow Management
- Execute LLM-based workflows 2-3 times per week using image-to-text capabilities to automatically generate product master data and optimised marketplace titles
- Run Python scripts that feed data into LLM prompts on a regular cadence
- Prepare and extract source data and images for processing
- Perform quality control and data cleansing of LLM outputs
- Upload finalised product data to data warehouse and platform backend systems
Marketplace Intelligence & Data Attribution
- Attribute and tag Shein's broader product catalogue using LLM tools to extract structured product attributes (e.g. patterns, colours, fit types, style details)
- Analyse performance indicators from Shein's marketplace data to identify trending attributes and best-performing product characteristics
- Create actionable insights on which product features perform best to inform product development decisions
- Maintain and update product attribution databases
Onsite Quality Control & Product Launch Management
- Conduct post-launch quality checks on newly live products (e.g. verify correct primary product image selection, validate product titles & selling prices
- Flag and coordinate fixes for any errors or inconsistencies with relevant teams
Seasonal Merchandising & Title Optimisation
- Enrich product titles with seasonal keywords and themes
- Monitor seasonal trends and proactively optimise product discoverability through keyword additions
- Align product presentation with current seasonal events and shopping behaviours
Shop The Look Content Support
- Facilitate "shop the look" content creation by preparing product pairings with bestselling items
- Tag and prepare products with "shop the look" associations before go-live
- Ensure styling recommendations are properly implemented on product pages
Seasonal Product Analysis & Restock Management
- Identify high-potential seasonal products for restocking based on historical performance data
- Submit restock requests to Shein for seasonal products ahead of their relevant selling season
- Coordinate timing of restocks to align with seasonal demand curves
What you’ll bring
- Fresh graduate or up to 2 years’ experience in merchandising, e-commerce operations, product operations, or related roles.
- Internship experience in fashion merchandising, e-commerce, or digital retail is highly valued.
- Passion for fashion, including genuine interest in trends, product styling, and the fashion industry.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a quality control mindset.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage recurring workflows independently.
- Comfortable working with digital tools and eager to learn new technologies.
- Visual eye for product presentation and merchandising.
- Self-starter who thrives on operational execution and process improvement.
- Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills for data manipulation and analysis.
- Comfortable learning and working with AI/LLM tools and automated workflows.
- Ability to learn and execute technical processes with guidance.
- Experience with data quality control and systematic checking processes.
- Basic Python knowledge or willingness to learn to execute scripts.
- Understanding of product taxonomy and attribution systems.
