Your opportunity

Team.blue is seeking a Back-end Developer to join our VPS Team in Leiden. As our new VPS backend developer you will help further develop and maintain the largest VPS platform in the Netherlands, as part of our team of developers and support engineers.

Making the life of our customers easier enables them to achieve greatness. By making our products easy to use and by automating as much as possible we help our customers to become self-sufficient (because nobody likes to depend on customer care, right?).

Are you a developer that is as comfortable working with the command line as coding in PHP? Do you enjoy diving into severely technical issues on your own (with a bit of guidance in the beginning, of course!)?

The team

When you join our team, you will have to be able to grasp the full complexity of a self-built and self-managed KVM virtualization platform. We expect you to be able to write rock SOLID object-oriented PHP code. We also require you to have some knowledge on the use of microservices when it comes to our code system architecture.

Within the team, we continuously search for new tools and techniques to apply to our ever-growing platform. This means you will be required to grasp new platforms and techniques quickly and be able to put this new knowledge into practice. You will work on several wide-spreading issues sprint by sprint as we apply SCRUM to our development process.

What Your Day Will Look Like

You work at home or from another workspace. Once a week you will work at our Leiden office in consultation with your team. Whether your day starts at the office or from your home, you’ll probably start with some coffee or tea. At 09:45 the team gathers for the daily stand-up in which we discuss the plans of today.

From there you’ll set out to work on your issue for that day. That could be working on adding new features to our core platform, implementing related services or assisting one of our team.blue sister brands with the integration of our platform.

We value code quality, write automated tests (unit and integration) and perform code reviews as standard.

Your profile

• Rock SOLID OO PHP
• Elite hacker CLI Skills
• To have a basic understanding of a Rest API
• Experience with containerisation
• Experience with CI/CD tools
• :3+ years of proven hands-on experience in developing back-end systems.
• Capable of reasoning about complex systems and interconnected (micro) services.
• Great communication skills (English is our primary language in tech. Dutch is a plus, but not a requirement.).
