A top tier investment bank is looking for an engineer experienced in Data platforms and Java/Scala programming to develop IT systems for the Securities team, collaborating directly with business users throughout the entire software lifecycle.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop IT systems for our Institutional Securities (Fixed Income and Equities) division.
  • Collaborate closely with business users to understand concepts like financial products and market mechanics.
  • Participate in the full system lifecycle: gathering requirements, refining user stories, designing solutions, writing code, and assisting our support team with complex user inquiries.
  • Work on a diverse technology stack including Java, Scala, Python, various data management systems, and CI/CD pipelines like Jenkins.
  • Our team solves a range of technical and business problems, from high-throughput, resilient data integration to calculating regulatory scenarios for Market Risk. Assignments are based on your skills, interests, and team fit.


Requirements:

  • 3-5 years architecting and building highly resilient data platforms.
  • Experience with data or computation-intensive backend applications is a plus.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and deliver optimal value.
  • Strong knowledge of data engineering, architecture, and modeling.
  • Cloud development experience (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
  • Familiarity with platforms like Databricks and Snowflake is a bonus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • OOP design skills, with an understanding or interest in Functional Programming.
  • Strong programming skills in Java/Scala, with a willingness to learn the other.
  • Comfortable enhancing existing code and working with legacy components.
  • Willingness to learn in-house frameworks; Spring knowledge is advantageous.
  • Experience with Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins, PRs, JIRA, and Scrum Agile methodology is preferred.
  • Knowledge of financial products or a relevant IT/Engineering degree is beneficial.
