AI Engineer - Generative AI, RAG & Azure (2 days/week)

We’re looking for an AI Engineer / Developer to design, implement, and optimize a Generative AI solution built on Microsoft Azure.You’ll play a central role in developing a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)-based chatbot that connects to internal knowledge repositories and delivers accurate, context-aware answers to users in real time.

Working within a small, cross-functional AI team (Project Manager, Architect, and Engineer), you’ll help shape every layer of the MVP from data ingestion to model deployment, ensuring security, scalability, and compliance with the latest AI governance standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop GenAI applications using Python, integrating LLMs (e.g., Azure OpenAI GPT or equivalent) with internal document sources.
• Build and manage data ingestion pipelines, including data cleaning, transformation, and indexing in vector databases.
• Implement and fine-tune RAG pipelines to improve context retrieval and model response accuracy.
• Develop REST APIs and integrations with internal systems for secure data access.
• Contribute to MLOps workflows — model monitoring, retraining, and versioning.
• Collaborate on prompt optimization and system evaluation to ensure high-quality responses.
• Deploy solutions within a secure Azure environment using best practices for IAM, RBAC, and CI/CD automation.
• Support user testing and integrate feedback into iterative releases.
  

What are we looking for?

Must-Have Skills

• Proven experience in Python development (SQL, JavaScript, or .NET experience is a plus).
• Strong background in data engineering — pipelines, cleaning, ingestion, and preparation.
• Hands-on experience implementing and testing AI/LLM models (OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Hugging Face, etc.).
• Practical expertise in RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipelines.
• Experience with MLOps (monitoring, retraining, model versioning).
• Familiarity with CI/CD and automation practices (Dev or Data environments).
• Fluent in English and either French or Dutch.
  

Nice-to-Have

• Experience setting up vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, FAISS, Chroma, Azure Cognitive Search).
• Knowledge of prompt engineering techniques.
• Experience designing and implementing REST APIs.
• Understanding of Azure services for AI, data, and security (Azure AI Studio, Key Vault, Cognitive Services).

Workload: 40% (approx. 2 days/week, flexible distribution)

Location: Brussels (hybrid)

Start Date: December 2025 (early start possible)
