Due to continued expansion, we are recruiting a Regional Technical Manager to take responsibility for quality control, customer and technical support for our ready-mix concrete and screed activities in the Dublin Metropolitan area. The position is based at our Head Office at Piercetown, Dunboyne, Co. Meath, with regular travel to plant locations and customer sites in the greater Dublin area will be involved.
Responsibilities:
- Proactively implement and manage the company's Technical and Quality function in line with product regulatory requirements, industry best practice and the company's operational and commercial objectives
- Build excellent working relationships with operational and commercial colleagues at all levels as well as with customers and their site staff. Specifically daily dialogue with the relevant Plant Managers, Batching Staff and Plant
- Staff is essential to ensure the company's technical objectives are being met
- Active engagement in improving product and process quality as well as minimizing the occurrence of nonconformities and associated costs
- Personally carry out sampling and testing of a range of construction materials including aggregates and ready-mix concrete.
- Provide supervision and direction to the technical supervisor and the QC Field Technician's responsible for day-to-day testing
- Monitor and report on quality and conformity matters to the Senior Technical Manager, Associate Directors and relevant Plant / Location Managers
- Provide technical expertise via information and guidance internally for tender preparation and sales quotation purposes. Also provide technical information as required by customers including mix designs, technical data sheets etc
- Attend weekly update meetings with colleagues in the operations and sales functions to update and provide support where necessary.
- Ensure that all activities under your control comply with the company quality management systems.
- 2-5 years direct technical experience in the concrete products / quarrying industry
- Must have proven knowledge of relevant products and raw materials, e.g. aggregates, cement, admixtures & ready-mixed concrete
- While a 3rd level or vocational qualification in one or more of the following areas would be beneficial; Civil Engineering, Concrete Technology, Quality Management, structured further and professional training will form part of the role. The post holder must be prepared to undertake further formal education
- Significant customer interfacing especially onsite support is required
