Role Overview
You’ll be responsible for designing and balancing levels that create smooth, satisfying gameplay loops and a strong first-time user experience (FTUE). Your main goal: help us design 60–90 minutes of engaging, well-paced gameplay across a variety of levels and difficulty progressions.
- Design and iterate puzzle levels for mobile hybrid-casual games.
- High focus on player onboarding and FTUE - ensuring smooth learning curves and fun early gameplay.
- Collaborate with the dev and art teams to integrate levels effectively into the overall game experience.
- Analyze feedbacks and adjust level design accordingly.
- Perform light QA testing on levels to ensure gameplay quality, balance, and overall player experience.
- Ensure levels are balanced for pacing, difficulty, and engagement.
- Optionally contribute to overall game design feedback and improvement ideas.
- Proven experience designing levels for mobile puzzle or hybrid-casual games (please include a portfolio or examples).
- Ability to create and iterate quickly using level editors inside Unity.
- Understanding of mobile player behavior, progression, and retention mechanics.
- Available up to 20 hours per week (flexible schedule).
- Experience with Figma, Photoshop, or similar tools for layout mockups and visual polish.
- Interest in broader game design discussions, not just level implementation.
- Experience in rapid prototyping or playtesting environments.
We don’t require a formal test task - instead, we’d like to start with a single project to see how well we collaborate. After that, it can evolve into a long-term and more stable freelance partnership.
- Work remotely or in-studio with a passionate small team.
- Creative freedom within an established design direction.
- Very flexible schedule and project-based compensation to discuss.
- Opportunity to influence the overall game experience beyond level design.
