Position Overview:

Title: Project Manager

Location: New York, NY or Willowbrook, IL

Type: Full-time; Hybrid

Reporting to: Senior Director, Sourcing & Project Management

Compensation: Negotiable (based on years of experience and location)


The Project Management team serves as the voice of the timeline for new launch initiatives at Tru. From concept to delivery, Project Managers build/drive the development launch plan, ensuring each Subject Matter Expert (SME) executes their responsibilities on time to bring flawless products to market. This initiative-taking role leads weekly status meetings—both internal and external—ensuring upcoming deadlines and deliverables are always clear, with no surprises. Throughout the process, Project Managers document key details, capturing the full history of each new development. Beyond active projects, Project Management proactively notifies brand teams about when new launches need to be kicked off in order to go live by a specific date. In addition to driving timelines, the team creates and maintains BOMs within Tru’s ERP system.


Project Management collaborates closely with Commercial Sales, Product Development, Creative, Sourcing, Compliance, Logistics, Production, Marketing, and Field Sales teams. The Project Manager is also responsible for continually assessing internal processes and making objective recommendations for improvement.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Review Project Briefs to ensure the desired launch timing allows time for each team to execute their responsibilities within a reasonable timeframe
  • Once Project Briefs are approved, build/present timeline to cross-function teams and obtain alignment of expectations
  • Lead key milestone and weekly status meetings, ensuring each team is aware of upcoming deliverables
  • Ensures timely handoffs between departments (i.e., Product Development, Creative, Vendor Relations, Production, QA/QC and Category Development) throughout the product development process
  • Proactively anticipates and problem solves for project hurdles; understands costing and timing objectives and proactively recommends solutions to achieve desired results
  • Issues sample Purchase Orders during the new development process
  • Create BOM in ERP system
  • At the closeout of each launch initiative, prepare/present a performance recap of the development to the cross-functional teams
  • Evaluates internal processes and makes objective recommendations for improvements and best practices


Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • BS/BA in Business, Marketing, or related degree
  • 4-5 years of experience in Project/Launch Management or Product Development, ideally in Beauty, Fragrance, Fashion, or Consumer Products
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and project management software (e.g., SmartSheet)

  • Highly organized and capable of managing multiple initiatives
  • Self-starter who takes a proactive approach to ensure all deliverables are met
  • Ability to work with different types of people, while creating and maintaining cooperative relationships across the organization
  • Capable of having fact-based conversations with internal/external project stakeholders.
  • Process driven and solution oriented
  • Ability to thoroughly vet course corrective scenarios prior to offering/suggesting to internal/external project stakeholders
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills and presentation skills; ability to initiate/lead cross-functional meetings
  • Expert in driving multiple programs at the same time and prioritizing tasks/deliverables within each
  • Strong organization/documentation of the details (to minimize future distractions of hunting the details)
  • Positive, energetic, can-do attitude with a team player mentality
  • Problem solver and quick learner that is motivated to think outside of the traditional
