As The UI/UX Design Lead, You Will
- Play a leading role in managing and evolving the Queensland Government Design System, progressively adding to, unifying, and maintaining the components within the design system including best practice and documentation (when and how to use, event tags, accessibility requirements, etc.) to be a “release ready” component.
- Own and lead the implementation of Queensland Government Design System, being the champion of the design system, principles and standards and use your passion and willingness to teach and coach others about development principles and the design system.
- Review design assets and specifications and validate those designs are implemented according to approved specifications.
- Follow UX/UI best practices (such as Apple HIG, Google Material Design, WCAG) and stay current with the latest in usability across web, iOS, and Android, ensuring all components are always of the highest quality.
- Work within a cross functional team to contribute to the agile delivery of digital products from concept development through to successful delivery and implementation, including working with delivery managers, business analysts, developers and testers to plan sprints and develop requirements and user stories based on user needs.
- Support the customer experience and product teams to discover users' needs (user-centred design), prototype UX/UI designs based on best practice and user feedback by translating ideas into sketches, wireframes, mock-ups, and interactive/static design solutions that drive a better user experience and fit within the design system ecosystem.
- Conduct/participate in primary research in the form of user research, user testing and customer interviews.
- Maintain project documentation, project boards, weekly and monthly reports, contribute to senior executive reports, group strategies and capability uplift requirements.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with peers and stakeholders to support the delivery of easier public services for Queenslanders.
